Here are my finalists for All-Bilo QB of the Year, FBS for the 2014 season:
Shane Carden, East Carolina
Trevone Boykin, TCU
Marcus Mariota, Oregon
Congratulations to these three candidates for an amazing 2014 college football season.
Carden passed for 4736 yards on the season while maintaining a 3:1 TD to INT ration (30 TDs, 10 picks). Carden wraps up a magnificent career with ECU and should be an early to mid round NFL draft pick this May.
Boykin blew up the landscape this season early on and led TCU to one of their all time best seasons in school history, culminating with a blow out win over Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl. Boykin, a junior, should roll into the 2015 season as a Heisman Trophy favorite early on after passing for 3901 yards with 33 TDs to 10 INTs.
Mariota completes an amazing career with the Ducks, and will head off to the NFL after his redshirt junior season at Oregon. Mariota had ridiculous TD to INT ratios throughout his career, as evidenced by his 42 TDs to just 4 INTs in 2014. Mariota also passed for 4454 yards for the Ducks in their run to the national title game that ended with a 42-20 loss to Ohio State, one of Oregon's rare losses under Mariota's watch.
And the winner of the 2014 All-Bilo QB of the Year: FBS is...
Marcus Mariota, Oregon
Few players in the nation meant as much to their team as Mariota, who played through injury and exceptional personnel loss around him to continue to elevate his football team year in and out. Mariota will be a first round pick in this year's NFL draft after leaving as a redshirt junior to pursue his pro career. Congratulations to Marcus and to the Oregon program for a phenomenal run in 2014, and throughout his college career. Marcus is sure to be a College Football Hall of Famer, and will receive my vote when he becomes eligible.
