CFL PRI (Power Rating Index) Week 2

Now I am getting caught up from a much needed vacation with my wife. I hope that you are enjoying the week one PRI for the CFL, so now let us caught up by posting week #2's PRI, as all games have been played for the week. Enjoy...

1. Edmonton Eskimos (2-0, 452 Points)
Last Week: #1, Gained 196 points
Defeated Hamilton, 28-10
The Esks hang onto the top spot in the PRI with a very solid win at home over the reeling Ti-Cats. Ricky Ray is the man once again, as he connect on 21/31 passes for 388 yards and a score. It was Jerome Messam that was the major hero of the day, as he ran for a pair of scores, but the defense held steady and dominated Hamilton, who falls to 0-2.
Week 3 Opponent: BC Lions (0-2)

2. Montrel Alouettes (2-0, 437 Points)
Last Week: #4, Gained 253 Points
Defeated Saskatchewan 39-25
Anthony Calvillo did it again, passing for 5 TDs in a huge road win that saw the Als jump up from 4 to 2 this week. Calvillo completed 29/43 passes on the night for a whopping 419 yards, and the Als cruised without looking back or sweating this week. Brian Bratton caught 2 TD passes, while Jamel Richardson added another 100 yard plus night (9-114). Brandon Whittaker caught a TD pass as well, but did not come close to his rushing output from a week ago. No need when Calvillo is dropping bomb after bomb.
Week 3 Opponent: Toronto (1-1)

3. Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2-0, 410 Points)
Last Week: #2, Gained 178 Points
Defeated Toronto 22-16
I will say this...if you stated that you knew that the Bombers would be 2-0 at this point, you would have been lying, as nobody could have seen this start, as the Bombers are half way to their 2010 win total already. Let's not kid ourselves, as the offense is still a work in progress, and I am guessing that Buck Pierce isn't anyone's ideal QB. Pierce passed for 165 yards in a very average night, and he was picked once while never passing for a score. The Bombers used a 10 points second quarter to take control and hang on for dear life to win this one. Fred Reid, once again, was the difference maker with his one rshing TD. Justin Palardy hit 4 of his 6 FGs on the day, while Joe Lobendahn, Doug Brown, and Odell Willis all collected 2 sacks each.
Week 3 Opponent: Calgary (1-1)

4. Toronto Argonauts (1-1, 85 Points)
Last Week: #3, Lost 140 points
Lost to Winnipeg, 22-16
Toronto could be considered fortunate to have split their first two games, as both came on the road. The loss to Winnipeg exposed some serious issues up front for the Argos, as Cleo Lemon was sacked 7 times in the loss. Lemon still somehow managed to complete 23/33 passes for 248 yards, but never scored through the air. Another issue was that the Argos fumbled 7 times in this game as well, with Lemon and Chad Owens dropping the ball 3 times each. Noel Prefontaine scored 10 points for the Argos, and if he had not, it would have been a heinous game with no silver lining at all.
Week 3 Opponent: @ Montreal

5. Calgary Stampeders (1-1, 53 Points)
Last Week: #7, Gained 236 Points
Defeated BC Lions 34-32
The Stamps came back in crazed fashion as they outscored the Lions on the road to pull off a much needed early season win. That's not to say that there weren't problems, as Henry Burris countered his 3 TD passes with 3 more picks, but a win is a win. Burris passed for 298 yards on the day, and rushed for 2 more scores as well. Nik Lewis, Landan Talley and Jon Cornish all hauled in scoring passes for the Stamps. Rene Parades was the difference on the day, scoring 10 points and hitting 3 FGs.
Week 3 Opponent: @ Winnipeg

6. BC Lions (0-2, -298 points)
Last Week: #5, Lost 170 points
Lost to Calgary, 34-32
The defense needs help, as the Lions have given up an average of 32 popints per game, and their young offense cannot seem to keep up with that total. The Lions also have no run game to support Travis Lulay yet, and it came back to bite them in the ass this week. Lulay tossed a pair of picks in this game, but passed for 279 yards and 2 scores. Lulay, however, only completed 17/39 passes on the night. The defense did force 3 fumbles, but it wasn't enough.
Week 3 Opponent: @ Edmonton

7. Saskatchewan Roughriders (0-2, -350 Points)
Last Week: #6, Lost 189 points
Lost to Montreal 39-25
The pass defense got absolutely hammered by the Als passing attack, as they gave up 419 yards to Calvillo in the home loss. Darian Durant played much better this week, passing for 273 yards and a score, but he is still a work in progress, having completed only 22/40 passes on the night. Wes Cates and Neal Hughes both rushed for scores, but overall, this was not a good effort on the night.
Week 3 Opponent: @ Hamilton

8. Hamilton Tiger-Cats (0-2, -375 Points)
Last Week: #8, Lost 158 points
Lost to Edmonton, 28-10
The offense was in shambles last week, cementing the Ti-Cats into the league's cellar when it comes to the power ratings. Hamilton is all over the place, and even the addition of the league's best back in Avon Colbourne has not worked out so far. Kevin Glenn took a beating from me on Twitter for his lack of ability early in seasons, and he sort of lacked energy yet again this week, despite completing 21/33 passes. He only passed for 219 yards and a score, while tossing his 4th pick in two games. He barely averaged 10 yards per completion, and that is not getting it done. There was no run game to speak of, and Justin Medlock was forced to punt 7 times. There are issues here.
Week 3 Opponent: Saskatchewan

Offensive Player of the Week: Anthony Calvillo, Montreal
Defensive Player of the Week: Joe Lobendahn, Winnipeg
Special Teams Player of the Week: Rene Parades, Calgary
