We wrap up the FBS portion of our Awards Season by naming the final defensive award winner the Defensive Back of the Year for 2013. The top four were tight in scoring for this award, but we could name just three finalists. The finalists are:
Tim Bennett-Indiana
Lorenzo Doss-Tulane
Anthony Harris-Virginia
Every finalist on this list had clear qualifications for the award this season, but it came down to overall performance, or as we like to say, the big picture. That became clear by just a couple of performance indicators, and we named a winner by a mere 4600 points when all was said and done. The winner of our 2013 FBS All-Bilo Defensive Back of the Year Award is...
Lorenzo Doss-Tulane
Doss' huge season was capitalized by Tulane being one of the surprise programs in college football during the 2013 season, which finalized with a birth in the hometown New Orleans Bowl, which unfortunately ended for Tulane with a loss to UL-Lafayette, the champion of the un Belt Conference. Doss was on fire all season, finishing with 7 INTs for the year, which ranked second behind runner up Anthony Harris, who had 8.
Doss finished with 192 yards and 2 TDs on his 7 picks on the season, while adding a fumble return34 tackles, 1.5 TFLs and 9 pass breakups. Congratulations to Lorenzo Doss, and to the Tulane Program!
