Your Searches, Edition 2

It's time once again to answer the question of the day from our readers pertaining to your searches that bring you to the site. Let's get right to it...
Today's question is as follows:

Do the Bilo Poll Points roll over to the next season?

The answer is no, they do not. Every team that we rank in FBS, FCS, and this fall D2, start each season with zero points. I do not post a preseason poll on any level, because everyone's ranking is earned based on performance during the season, and I do not believe in preseason polls, as everything is based on guess work. In 2009, every major poll had Ole Miss ranked in the top 10 to start the season, and kept them clinking around in their polls most of the season, even though the Rebels never met those expectations. In contrast, Ole Miss only barely cracked our top 25 once all season, and never sniffed the top 10 because their performance never dictated that they belonged there, as the math in our system never warranted it.
At one time, several years ago, I toyed with the idea of starting everyone where they finished the season before, just to get a starting point, but then decided that the better way was to start every team out at zero level with no expecatations, keeping it scientific from day one.

Thanks for the question, the searches, and for reading! Looking forward to the next installment of "Your Searches".
