INDIANA, PA - Eight days after releasing its 10-game 2014 schedule, the IUP football added an 11th and final opponent as the Crimson Hawks will now open their season against St. Augustine's (N.C.) on Sept. 6.
The game will be will be played at Frank Cignetti Field at George P. Miller Stadium, giving IUP a total of six home games on its now 11-game schedule.
St. Augustine's belongs the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), which features schools from Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Member schools include Bowie State, Winston-Salem State and Shaw.
The Falcons finished their 2013 season with a 4-6 record, including a 3-4 mark in the CIAA. They were 6-4 in 2012 and 9-2 in 2010.
After IUP's season opener against St. Augustine's, the Crimson Hawks will hit the road for games at Kutztown and Lock Haven the following two weekends. The home opener will take place on Sept. 27 against Mercyhurst.
Spring practice opens up for the Crimson Hawks on Wednesday, March 26.
