IUP Announces 2014 Schedule

INDIANA, PA – The IUP Athletic Department has announced its complete football schedule for the upcoming 2014 season. The Crimson Hawks have set a 10-game slate and will play five of those games in the friendly confines of Frank Cignetti Field at George P. Miller Stadium.

IUP will open its season on Sept. 13 at Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East opponent Kutztown. The Crimson Hawks will be on the road the following week with their second straight non-divisional game at Lock Haven.

The home opener will come on Sept. 27 when the Crimson Hawks host Mercyhurst. Not only will it be the PSAC West opener but the matchup will also be the annual IUP Athletic Hall of Fame Game.

From there, IUP goes back and forth with road and home games, traveling to Edinboro on Oct. 4 before returning home to face Seton Hill on Homecoming on Oct. 11.

The Crimson Hawks travel to rival California (PA) on Oct. 18 for the Sixth Annual Coal Bowl against the Vulcans. The following two games will come in Indiana with IUP hosting Slippery Rock on Oct. 25 and Clarion on Nov. 1. The Crimson Hawks travel to Erie to face Gannon on Nov. 8.

The regular season finale is set for Nov. 15 against PSAC East power West Chester at Miller Stadium. That game could become the 2014 PSAC Championship if the Crimson Hawks hold the top spot in the PSAC West. Back in 2012 when the championship was last slated to be hosted by a PSAC West school, IUP played against Shippensburg, routing the Red Raiders by a score of 41-10.

Spring practice opens up for the Crimson Hawks on Wednesday, March 26.
