Conference Title Chase Updates Week 9: SEC

Still In It East: Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky
Georgia: Make no mistake, as the Bulldogs are firmly in control. That said, the next three weeks are a race to the finish, as UGA plays South Carolina, Auburn, and Kentucky to wrap up SEC play before finishing the yer against Georgia Tech in non con play. Georgia has a two game lead, so one loss will not hurt, but losing two would create chaos.

South Carolina: This week is an elimination game against Georgia. It is simple. Win and survive, lose and they are out. Nothing else matters at this point.

Kentucky: Kentucky is also in elimination mode. One loss, and a Georgia win, and it is over. The Cats should be in decent shape with games against Missouri and Vanderbilt upcoming, and then they get Georgia in Athens. A miracle could still happen, but remember, they need Georgia to lose twice, and once to them, to stay in it. This week is not an elimination round for UK, but next week is.

Still In It West: Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State
Alabama: The Tide, as always, controls the show. This week, LSU is on the slate. Next week, it's Mississippi State, so we have a basic playoff run now over the next two weeks. Alabama wins both, and gets and Auburn loss, not even the Iron Bowl means much at that point.

Auburn: The Tigers have a brutal final month in SEC play, starting with a must win against Texas A&M this week. The final two weeks have games coming up with Georgia and Alabama. It doesn't get any tougher than this.

LSU: It's simple for LSU at this point. Lose to Alabama, and you can basically put this season to rest. It all falls on this one game this week.

Mississippi State: The Bulldogs are basically just barely hanging on at this point. They beat LSU, but already have a loss to Auburn. They get a break this week with a non con game with U Mass, but then comes Alabama in a must win game for MSU, and it would be a massive upset to get that one. The Bulldogs have easy closer games with Arkansas and Ole Miss, but they need that Alabama win and another Alabama loss on top of that, two Auburn losses, and at least one LSU loss to be able to claim the division.
