Conference Title Chase Updates Week 12: MAC

East Contenders: Ohio, Akron
Ohio: It's all or nothing this week, as the Bobcats must beat Akron to wrap up the Eastern Division and head to the MAC title game. A loss here, and Akron is in control. The Bobcats travel to Akron tonight, and then travel to Buffalo next week. A loss to Akron tonight means that Ohio would have to beat Buffalo, paired with an Akron loss next week.

Akron: The Zips have to win tonight to stay alive in the MAC East race. If the Zips lose, next week means nothing. Akron would have to beat Ohio tonight, and also would still need to win out against Kent State next week for the title. If Akron were to win tonight, they would still need that win next week, or would need an Ohio loss to Buffalo.

West Contenders: Toledo, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, Central Michigan
Toledo: The Rockets should be in good shape this week against a spiraling Bowling Green club, but the Ohio loss last week was not a welcome one. It kept this race alive one week longer. Toledo wraps with Western Michigan, but the Rockets own tie breakers against NIU and CMU. With a win over Bowling Green, NIU and CMU are eliminated, but WMU could still make trouble.

Northern Illinois: A Toledo win this week against Bowling Green takes the Huskies out of the race via a tie breaker that they lost to Toledo. The Huskies could help themselves if Toledo loses outbyt winning both of their final games against Western Michigan and Central Michigan. The Huskies have the hardest road yet to travel of anyone in the West race.

Western Michigan: The Broncos can still control their own destiny. They still play both Central Michigan and Toledo in the final two weeks, and winning both games will be a must. They do not own a tie breaker directly with Central Michigan, but the Chippewas have their own fish to fry right now.

Central Michigan: If Toledo wins, CMU is basically playing the spoiler role this week. The Chippewas have lost to Toledo, but they have beaten Western Michigan. For CMU to stay in it, they would need Toledo to lose out, and they would have to beat Northern Illinois and Kent State to stay alive.

Bowl eligible: Ohio, Toledo, Northern Illinois, Central Michigan, Western Michigan

Can become bowl eligible this week: Akron
