Big 10
East Contenders
Michigan State: Sparty has now secured a win over Penn State, and Ohio State lines up this week as a must win. If the Spartans can beat the Buckeyes, they line up as the East champ, as they have already beaten Michigan. After Ohio State, only games against Maryland and Rutgers remain.
Ohio State: The Buckeyes are in must win mode after their loss to Iowa last weekend. The Buckeyes get the big showdown with Michigan State this week, and would have to beat the Spartans and Michigan in the final week to wrap up the east crown. Illinois is the only other game left on the slate.
Penn State: The Nittany Lions need some serious help right now. They need an Ohio State and Michigan State to each lose twice now, and that will be a hard thing to accomplish. If that can happen, and the Lions win out, Penn State is your east champ. The schedule sets up with winnable games against Rutgers, Nebraska, and Maryland.
Michigan: Michigan has the most unlikely path to the east title, but it is still possible. The Wolverines need an Ohio State win over Michigan State, and would need to beat the Buckeyes. Michigan also needs one more Penn State loss, and then the Wolverines would have to win out against Maryland, Wisconsin, and Ohio State.
West Contenders
Wisconsin: A Badgers win over Iowa this week would lock up the West division. The Badgers have already beaten Northwestern and Nebraska has already lost three in league play, one being to the Badgers as well.
Northwestern: The Wildcats need some help, namely three Wisconsin losses, to stay in the race, and that is highly unlikely. A Wisconsin win this week eliminates the Wildcats.
Big 10 Bowl Eligible Teams: Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Iowa
