Conference Title Chase Updates Week 9: Sun Belt

Still In It: Arkansas State, Appalachian State, Troy, Georgia State
Arkansas State: The Red Wolves have a serious shot at winning the Sun Belt title, as the remainder of the schedule is very passable. The first three weeks against South Alabama, Texas State, and ULM should all be wins, but then the Wolves wrap up with Troy. I give the Red Wolves the highest odds of hanging on to win the conference.

Appalachian State: We could have another interesting tie in the Sun Belt in the final season, as Appalachian State does not play Arkansas State, and they have a very similar final month of mostly winnable games. The Mountaineers get both ULM and Georgia Southern the next two weeks before a tough date with Georgia State. They get ULL in the finale.

Troy: The Trojans have won three straight, but they may need some help with both an Arkansas State and App State loss or two to win the conference title in the regular season. They almost slipped up this week in a narrow win over Idaho, and that cannot continue. Troy gets Coastal Carolina and Texas State the next two weeks before a showdown with Arkansas State on the road in the finale. Troy would need to beat Arkansas State, and get at least one Appalachian State loss to have a shot at the title, two to win it.

Georgia State: The Panthers have exploded over the last few weeks, and now find themselves in the Sun Belt title conversation. They should be favored din games with Georgia Southern and Texas State over the next two weeks, but then comes some challenges against Appalachian State and Idaho to close out the season. The Panthers already have a loss to Troy, so would need the Trojans to lose twice, and needs to beat Appalachian State. They do not play Arkansas State this season.
