Here are my picks for this weekend's conference championship tilts:
MAC
Northern Illinois vs. Bowling Green
The Huskies get a crack at the Falcons once again after Bowling Green knocked the Huskies down a peg last season. Look for NIU to get out on it and take some revenge.
My Pick: Northern Illinois
PAC-12
Oregon vs. Arizona
Arizona is looking for their first outright conference title since joining the league in 1978. Arizona has never been to the Rose Bowl, and despite winning the conference, would still be hard pressed to get there. The Wildcats have had the Duck's number the last two seasons, and may push them once again. Oregon wins and it's all in for a final four appearance and a definite Rose Bowl birth.
My Pick: Oregon
Conference USA
Marshall vs. Louisiana Tech
Marshall completely blew it against Western Kentucky last weekend, and has looked rough for a couple of weeks now. Louisiana Tech has been bumpy to close it out as well. Who's hungrier right now?
My Pick: Louisiana Tech
SEC
Alabama vs. Missouri
Alabama certainly isn't who they normally are, and they certainly do not deserve the number one ranking right now. However, they are still the best that the SEC has to offer, and they should be able to take down a Missouri team that has some deficiencies of their own.
My Pick: Alabama
ACC
Florida State vs. Georgia Tech
FSU has been more lucky than good this season, but wins are wins. That being said, if they fall behind early, and allow Tech to control the ball and clock, Tech could pull it out. The Seminoles could be flat after falling to 4th in the latest polls.
My Pick: Georgia Tech
Big 10
Wisconsin vs. Ohio State
Can Ohio State really pull off another win with their third string QB taking the reins this week? It's a bad week to have inexperience, and Wisconsin has been gaining steam of late behind an amazing line and running game. Even Joel Stave has been better at QB.
My Pick: Wisconsin
Mountain West
Fresno State vs. Boise State
Somehow, as bad as Fresno State has been this fall, they still found a way to sneak in and steal the West title. Boise State got over by beating Colorado State in September, and by remaining who they are the rest of the way. This shouldn't be an issue.
My Pick: Boise State
Non Championship Games
Iowa State at TCU...TCU should cruise over the hapless Cyclones and remain in playoff spot.
Houston at Cincinnati...Nobody really cares here about two AAC also rans. Cincinnati wins.
SMU at U Conn...Welcome to 0-12, SMU.
Oklahoma State at Oklahoma...It's still bedlam, just not as great. OU takes it.
Temple at Tulane...Because it has to be played. Temple should get win number six.
Kansas State at Baylor...Baylor must win to have outside playoff shot. K-State could upset.
FCS Playoffs
Fordham at New Hampshire...UNH doesn't lose at home. End of run for Rams. UNH wins.
Indiana State at Chattanooga...Mocs looking to make run deeper, will win.
Richmond at Coastal Carolina...CCU is the better team here.
Sam Houston State at Jacksonville State...JSU will best Bearkats at home.
Northern Iowa at Illinois State...Pesky Panthers will likely hit roadblock at ISU.
South Dakota State at North Dakota State...Bison push forward, won't be easy.
Montana at Eastern Washington...Delaney era at UM ends here. EWU prevails.
Liberty at Villanova...Flames snuck into playoffs, will get pushed right back out by Wildcats.
SWAC Title Game
Jackson State vs. Southern
This game means virtually nothing to most of the nation, but it's on the board. So here's my pick...Southern!
