Coaches on the Hot Seat #3

Here's the latest look at the Hot Seat after two weeks of play.

Jim Grobe, Wake Forest
Grobe crashed and burned last weekend as the Deacons wasted a perfect opportunity against Boston College. If the Deacons somehow fall to UL-Monroe this weekend, the writing should be on the wall. Grobe is slipping fast, and it's getting noticed nationally.

Charlie Weis, Kansas
It's only year two in the Weis regime, and they got over on South Dakota last week. This may be the only win that the Jayhawks are guaranteed this season. It could be downhill from here.

Dave Christensen, Wyoming
I'd be willing to take Christensen off of the seat next week, but beating Idaho is not enough. Wyoming has some climbing to do, and it has to start now.

Troy Calhoun, Air Force
The Falcons won't send Calhoun packing this season, but this is more a look ahead to 2014, and after the Falcons fell to Utah State by 32 this week, the future is looking more bleak by the minute.

Gary Pinkel, Missouri
Pinkel has started out with 2 wins, but they are against lesser teams. As the competition gets tougher, the Tigers will see less success on the scoreboard.

Rick Stockstill, Middle Tennessee
The Blue Raiders lost by 20 to North Carolina. Once they get into CUSA play they could be a favorite, but something doesn't feel right yet. 8 wins are a must this season.

David Bailiff, Rice
Bailiff has been on and off of this list for a few years now. After getting blown out by Texas A&M, the Owls took last week off. They must now rebound, and do it quickly, or else there will be no escape for Bailiff.

Rocky Long, San Diego State
Long had a longshot job to do in holding over the success of Brady Hoke. It worked well for a year, but the magic is wearing off. They have lost to Eastern Illinois and Ohio State by a combined score of 82-26. Let that sink in.

Off of the Seat: Tony Levine, Houston; Randy Edsell, Maryland;

Fell Into the Dead Pool: Mack Brown, Texas
