Missouri Valley Conference 2017 Football Projections

The Missouri Valley has become the power broker in FCS football, even if they only took foour teams to the playoffs last season, after sending five each of the prior two seasons. The league did not win a national title for the first time in six tries. The conference is loaded once again, and could be back to five playoff births. Here are our projections for the Missouri Valley Conference this fall:

1. North Dakota State: Five year title run was snapped last season, and the Bison are angry.
2. South Dakota State: The offense is loaded, and the Jackrabbits appear ready to push for MVC title.
3. Youngstown State: The Penguins got to the title game under Bo Pelini, but have some losses.
4. Illinois State: Redbirds have been solid, but stepped back just a bit, and a rebound could come.
5. Northern Iowa: UNI has never had consecutive losing seasons under coach Mark Farley.
6. Western Illinois: Leathernecks will battle UNI for the final playoff spot out of the MVC.
7. South Dakota: QB Chris Streveler could be best young QB in the conference.
8. Southern Illinois: Saluki program has been sliding of late, and the slide continues in 2017.
9. Indiana State: Curt Mallory takes over as head coach, but cupboard is empty.
10. Missouri State: Bears improved last season, but will still battle Sycamores for last place.
