Hawaii 52, Middle Tennessee 35
Hawaii jumped out to a 35-21 lead over the Blue Raiders at the half, and never looked back, picking up a win in their home stadium. It was the first Hawaii Bowl win for the Rainbows since 2005.
Dru Brown had a huge passing game for Hawaii, passing for 275 yards and 4 TDs, and he did not throw a pick in the win. He only tossed 10 TDs during the season.
Hawaii is now 4-3 overall in Hawaii Bowl appearances with this win, and they scored a season high 52 points in getting to that 4th win in this bowl.
Diocemy Saint Juste rushed for 170 yards on 25 carries in the win, his 4th 100 yard effort of the season.
With the win, Hawaii is now 2-0 all-time against Middle Tennessee.
Hawaii's 7 wins were their most since 2010, when they won 10 games. Those 7 wins were what they had won combined for the last two seasons.
Middle Tennessee has now lost 4 consecutive bowl appearances, with their last win coming in 2009.
Richie James starred for Middle Tennessee, catching 8 passes for 162 yards and a score in the loss, and he also added 52 yards rushing on 7 carries and a score.
