Bilo's Quick Independence Bowl Recap

NC State 41, Vanderbilt 17

After trailing 3-0 early, NC State scored 28 unanswered points on the way to the blowout win. NC State has now won 2 of their last 3 bowls, while Vanderbilt fell short of winning their 3rd straight bowl appearance, and fell short of their first winning season since 2013.
NC State TE Jaylen Samuels caught 6 passes for 104 yards and 3 TDs in the win. The 3 TDs broke an Independence Bowl record.
This was the first ever win by NC State over Vanderbilt, as they are now 1-2 against the Commodores all-time.
This was the 12th bowl appearance for NC State since 2000, and was their 16th bowl win all-time, while Vanderbilt fell to 4-3-1 all-time in bowls.
Ryan Finley tossed all 3 of his TD passes to Samuels, and passed for 235 yards on the day in the win.
Ralph Webb rushed for 111 yards and a score, and broke the Vanderbilt all-time career rushing record.
NC State converted 8/15 3rd down conversions, while Vandy converted on 6/18.
