Bilo's Quick New Mexico Bowl Recap

New Mexico 23, UTSA 20

Lobo leading rusher Tyrone Owens went down after just three carries, and the New Mexico run game slowed significantly, but the Lobos were able to do just enough to hold off a late UTSA rally in the win. UNM has now won 9 games for the first time since 2007, and has won their second bowl game since 1961. UTSA fell to 6-7 with the loss, falling short of their first 7 win season since 2013. Richard McQuarley rushed for a pair of TDs, while Lamar Jordan led the Lobos with 81 yards from his QB spot while completing 3/4 passes for 77 yards.
Jarveon Williams rushed for 125 yards in the loss for UTSA. The Roadrunners held the Lobos 141 yards short of their game average on the ground, allowing UTSA to keep the game relatively close throughout.
Since the start of the 2015 season, New Mexico is 12-3 at home. UTSA lost for the first time in 2016 while scoring first, falling to 5-1 in that category.
