Now that we have covered who is sitting on the Hot Seat, let's see who is swimming in the murky waters of the Dead Pool this week...
June Jones, Tom Mason, SMU (Quit/Interim)
Jones left behind a huge mess for interim coach Tom Mason. The Mustangs are ranked dead last in our weekly PRS Rankings.
Larry Blakeney, Troy (Retires at End of Season)
Blakeney was a Dead Pooler from start to finish this season for us, and he decided to pull his own plug before the university had to fire him, which would have been uncomfortable for all parties. Now, the Troy administration has enacted a 17 person committee to find his replacement. You can't get 17 people to agree on what to have for lunch.
Paul Haynes, Kent State
Despite beating Army this week (who doesn't), it's a sooner or later firing coming for Haynes at Kent State. He has allowed the program to sink back to all time low levels, and it cannot be allowed to happen.
Bill Blankenship, Tulsa
According to the AD, he won't be canned during the season, so there's that. Blankenship is as good as done, but they will wait until the season concludes to do it. He was never a very good fit.
Bobby Hauck, UNLV
UNLV has a new(ish) AD who did not hire Hauck. She was also very upset about the pending APR issues that got overturned. There were expectations coming off of the bowl appearance that cost the school losts of cash it didn't have. Now the Rebels are just 2-5. He's done short of a miracle.
Norm Chow, Hawaii
Never you mind that win over Wyoming. Chow is gone. The program has bled out money, and the fan base is apathetic at best. Chow has to go to save football at UH.
Jeff Quinn/Alex Wood, Buffalo (Fired/Interim)
Change was needed at UB after losing to Eastern Michigan and largely struggling all season. It will be interesting to see who is interested. This is a much better job than it was a decade ago.
Tim Beckman, Illinois
Despite hanging in at 3-4, the Illini making a bowl game would take a miracle at this point, and I believe that the Illinois administration has likely already made up their minds on his fate. Stay tuned.
Brady Hoke, Michigan
Keeping him around for the entire season will play out painfully for Michigan. Everyone knows Hoke and AD Dave Brandon are gone. What I don't understand is what are they still doing there? The bye week would have been a perfect time to axe both.
Will Muschamp, Florida
The Gators got ran over by Missouri, which had been shut out by Georgia the week before. The media jumped on this event like a lion to a bloody steak. Muschamp is gone, and Jeremy Foley knows it has to happen. He stated today that he will continue to evaluate the program.
