Here is our weekly updated list of coaches that we believe will be fired before the end of the 2017 season:
David Beaty, Kansas
If that 18 point loss to Central Michigan does not tell you how little has happened to improve Kansas during his term as head coach, nothing will. This program is at rock bottom, and has been for some time now.
David Bailiff, Rice
Bailiff beat UTEP 31-14 last weekend. Who knows? This guy has dodged the bullet so many times that the current administration will say "at least he beat UTEP!" and keep him on.
Sean Kugler, UTEP
Kugler lost to Oklahoma, and lost to Rice by 17. Rice lost to Stanford by 55. Yeah, the Miners are that stinking bad.
Brian Kelly, Notre Dame
IT only took two weeks for pissed off Kelly to return after he had gone on about changing his attitude and tune. If you lose the media, you lose the job. That's how it works in sports, and he has lost the media in a big way.
Paul Haynes, Kent State
Haynes took time off for an undisclosed medical condition. He should be back this week or next, but after getting hammered by Clemson, and almost losing to Howard in his absence, why would he even want to return to this mess, when he will likely be fired at the end of the season anyway, if he makes it that long.
Matt Wells, Utah State
The Aggies lost to Wisconsin by 49 after leading 10-0 early. He managed to beat Idaho State last weekend, but that is nothing to hang your hat on. If the Aggies get wrecked by Wake Forest on the road this week, and they could, he may be a serious short timer in Logan.
Tyson Summers, Georgia Southern
The rumblings are growing louder in Statesboro by the day for the ouster of Summers. The Eagles were handled by Auburn by 34, and they lost to FCS member New Hampshire this last week 22-12. The Eagles are averaging just 9.5 points per game on offense. He may only be in year two, but he may very well not make year three as it stands, with several people already calling for his ouster on social media.
Already Drowned
Jerome Souers, Northern Arizona
The Lumberjacks were soundly routed by a bad Arizona team i the opener, and after yet another loss to Western Illinois last weekend, the school announced that Souers contract will not be renewed for the 2018 season, and that this would be his final year in Flagstaff. Souers has been at NAU for 18 seasons, and is one of the longest tenured coaches in college football on the FBS or FCS levels.
