Bilo's College Football PASS/FAIL Reports Week 6: MAC

MAC
PASS: Ohio, Toledo, Akron, Kent State, Central Michigan, Western Michigan
Ohio used 4 turnovers, and played a balanced game in narrowly holding off Bowling Green in MAC play. The Bobcats used a 20 point 2nd quarter to keep the pace even in the win.
Toledo was neck and neck with Eastern Michigan at the half, but pulled away in the 2nd half on the way to a 35-20 win. Logan Woodside passed for 4 TDs, and Toledo has won 10 straight over the Eagles.
Tra’Von Chapman passed for 3 TDs, and rushed for another, as Akron pulled away to beat Miami (Ohio) in MAC play, 35-13. The Zips have now won 6 straight MAC contests.
Kent State finally showed some signs of life this week, beating Buffalo 44-20 on the road. QB Nick Holley did his damage on the ground, rushing for 224 yards and 4 TDs in the win for the Golden Flashes.
Central Michigan rested on a 14 point 2nd quarter, and managed to hold off Ball State 24-21 in MAC play. Cooper Rush passed for 270 yards and is now just 2 TDs away from tying for the all-time MAC TD passing record. The Chippewas scored a late TD on defense to hold off the Cardinals.
Western Michigan is now 6-0 for the first time since 1945 after beating Northern Illinois 45-20 today. WMU snapped a 7 game losing streak to NIU, and Corey Davis caught 6 passes for 122 yards and 2 TDs, and is the leading receiver in FBS play this season, and holds the school record for TD receptions with 40.

FAIL: Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Miami (Ohio), Buffalo, Ball State, Northern Illinois
Bowling Green had a 4 game winning streak against Ohio snapped in their loss to the Bobcats. James Morgan had has 2 TD passes made irrelevant by tossing 3 picks in the loss.
Eastern Michigan was held to just 62 yards rushing, and allowed 220 yards on the ground to Toledo, and a close game got away from them late in their loss to Toledo. EMU has only won 11 times all-time against the Rockets.
Miami gave up 14 points off turnovers, rolled up only 260 yards, and turned the ball over 3 times in a loss to Akron. Miami was forced to start a freshman at QB due to injury, and it did not go well.
Buffalo gave up 430 yards to previously lifeless Kent State, and 341 of those came on the ground in a 24 point loss to the hapless Golden Flashes. The Bulls gave up 7.6 yards per carry on the day.
Ball State gave up 422 yards, and rolled up 3360 of their own, and gave up a late defensive TD to CMU to fall short today, 24-21. The Cardinals ran 69 plays on the day.
Anthony Maddie tossed a pair of interceptions, and NIU fell to just 1-5 on the season after a 45-30 loss to WMU that snapped a 7 game winning streak against the Broncos. It’s the first time that former Husky and WMU coach PJ Fleck has beaten his former school.
