2016 All-Bilo Place Kicker and Punter of the Year

I am wrapping up my positional players of the year for FBS football by announcing my Place Kicker and Punter of the Year for 2016. Without any further delay, our finalists for PK were:

Daniel Carlson, Auburn
Louie Zervos, Ohio
Austin Rehkow, Idaho
Gary Wunderlich, Ole Miss
Younghoe Koo, Georgia Southern

Every kicker in this group had a fantastic season, but one kicker stood out for me this season on a surprisingly good football team. That would be...

Austin Rehkow, Idaho
Rehkow was good for 2 FGs per game on average this season in hitting 26/29 kicks on the year for the Vandals, who won 9 games before dropping back to FBS football and the Big Sky Conference in 2017. Rehkow, for hsi career, has been Mr. Consistent, and we are proud to honor him for the second time during his career at Idaho. Congratulations to Austin Rehkow and to the Idaho football program!

I now move on to Punter. Here are my finalists...

Johnny Townsend, Florida
Mitch Wishnowski, Utah
Michael Dickson, Texas
JK Scott, Alabama
Cameron Johnston, Ohio State

All five of these players had very even stats for the season, so this was a tough decision. The winner of my All-Bilo Punter of the Year in FBS football for 2016 is...

Michael Dickson, Texas
Dickson edged out the competition here because more was asked of him per game than any of the others. He averaged 5.4 punts per game, and averaged 47.37 yards per punt for the Longhorns in 2016. He punted 65 times on the season for 3079 yards.
Congratulations to Michael and to the Longhorns program!
