Air Force 45, South Alabama 21
Air Force broke open a game that was tied at the half with 24 unanswered 2nd half points to pull away with a win in Tucson in the Arizona Bowl. The Falcons had trailed by 18 points in the 2nd quarter before making a furious rally, which then ended in the subsequent blowout win. The Falcons finished with their second consecutive 10 win season, while South Alabama fell to 6-7 on the year. USA is now 0-2 in bowl game appearances since starting their football program in recent seasons.
Josh Robinette caught only 2 passes, but they went for 124 yards and a score for Air Force. Robinette finished 17 yards shy of becoming the first Air Force receiver with 1000 yards since 1970.
The Falcons finished with 460 yards on the game, and held onto the football for just over 40 minutes. Arion Worthman rallied up 278 total yards for the Falcons at QB.
South Alabama finished with just 313 yards of offense, most of which was effective only in the first half of the game, as the Jaguars only had 37 yards after the half, and finished with -3 yards in the final quarter.
Jacobi Owens rushed for 74 yards for the Falcons, and scored twice.
USA finished with just 68 yards rushing on 21 carries as a team, with no one back carrying the ball more than 8 times in the game.
Air Force rushed for 253 team yards and 4 scores.
Dallas Davis completed just 10 passes, but picked up 245 yard passing for USA. Josh Magee caught 5 of those passes for 154 yards and a score.
