The Big 12 is in full tournament mode the final month of the season, as two spots are up for grab in the Big 12 title game. There are four teams still in the hunt, and there is only one team that can claim an advantage as we sit.
In the Hunt: Iowa State, TCU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State
Iowa State: The Cyclones are in the best position heading into November at this point, having already beaten Oklahoma and TCU. They are the king of the castle just now, but still need to do what they need to do, and that is beat Oklahoma State. Iowa State needs to avoid a trap at West Virginia next week, and then Oklahoma State comes in the week after. The Cyclones close with winnable games against both Baylor and Kansas State.
TCU: The Frogs lost their shot to control their own destiny over the weekend by falling flat against Iowa State. Gary Patterson has done a great job this season, but now he needs the Cyclones to get beat twice, along with the Frogs winning out to move back into a leadership position. That said, all TCU needs to do is maintain second place. There is one up front scary game left, and that is a road trip to Oklahoma next week. This week, the Frogs need to stay focused on beating Texas.
Oklahoma: The Sooners are in a tough spot. They have lost to Iowa State, and they still have to play Oklahoma State (this week), TCU (the following week), and will close with Kansas and West Virginia. Maintaining first or second place will be a tough road for the Sooners here.
Oklahoma State: The next two weeks will represent a playoff of sorts for the Cowboys as well, as they get Oklahoma this week, and Iowa State on the road the following week. They close with Kansas State and Kansas, but they must get through these next two weeks to have any shot of staying alive.
