FBS PRS (Bilo Poll 1-A) Edition 9

Here is this week's edition of the FBS PRS. We're heading into the home stretch now, and things are going to get interesting. Remember this...#1 Auburn still has a game against Chattanooga. That will hurt their PRS ranking, and with a win, Utah would move into #1 next week. Oregon would move to #2. If Utah falls to TCU at home, TCU could move up and bypass the Ducks for #1 next week. It's going to be another wild ride.
Here is the PRS entering week 10.

1. Auburn (9-0, 2151)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #1, Defeated Ole Miss 51-31
Points Gained: 271
This Week: Chattanooga
This will be Auburn's last week at #1. They will fall for playing an FCS opponent at this point, and with Oregon, and TCU or Utah both playing as well as they are, it will be tough to get back.
That's the price one pays for scheduling a ridiculous game at this point of the season. At least in the PRS...
I Pick: Auburn

2. Utah (8-0, 2061)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #2, Defeated Air Force 28-23
Points Gained: 233
This Week: #4 TCU
The Utes have been flying under the radar all season long. The PRS is the only system that has noticed them from the beginning as one of the best teams in the nation. This week will be for everything, and a win would all but guarantee them the MWC championship in their final season in the league. A loss likely sends them to see me in Vegas in late December. I'll be happy to see them.
I Pick: TCU

3. Oregon (8-0, 2016)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #6, Defeated #34 USC 53-32
Points Gained: 324
This Week: Washington
The Ducks are full speed ahead right now, and UW is going to be without Jake Locker at QB. If the Huskies fell 41-0 to Stanford, what do you think will happen against the Ducks?
I Pick: Oregon

4. TCU (9-0, 1994)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #4, Defeated UNLV 48-6
Points Gained: 290
This Week: at #2 Utah
Every game is a huge game for the Frogs at this point. They have won on the road and at home with equal ease. They were undefeated last season, and are on the best run in school history. It all comes down to this. This is the game that we have been waiting for, and Gary Patterson and I were discusiing this game before they played UNLV.
I Pick: TCU

5. Boise State (7-0, 1924)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #5, Defeated Louisiana Tech 49-20
Points Gained: 228
This Week: #17 Hawaii
This is the biggest game for the Broncos since the Oregon State game. Boise has to play their game and take the Warriors pass game and contain it to some degree. UH has had some of their biggest trouble on the road, so the Broncos are happy to get them on the Smurf Turf.
I Pick: Boise State

6. Ohio State (8-1, 1794)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #8, Defeated Minnesota 52-10
Points Gained: 294
This Week: Penn State
The Buckeyes are still alive for a BCS birth. This week should get them one step closer, as they seem to have come alive a bit.
I Pick: Ohio State

7. Alabama (7-1, 1598)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #7, Idle
Points Gained: 0
This Week: at #13 LSU
The Crimson Tide have kept themselves in position to still win the SEC West. This game is more important to Bama because LSU has already fallen to Auburn. LSU would need outside help, while Alabama still controls their own fate.
I Pick: Alabama

8. Michigan State (8-1, 1539)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #3, Lost to #22 Iowa 37-6
Points Gained: -175
This Week: Minnesota
The signs were all there, as the Spartans kept on falling behind the last few weeks. This time they couldn't recover, and it cost them a shot at the title. They can still win the Big 10, and a date with the Gophers is the way to get it back.
I Pick: Michigan State

9. Oklahoma State (7-1, 1496)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #11, Defeated Kansas State 24-14
Points Gained: 234
This Week: #20 Baylor
The Cowboys bounced back with the win over Kansas State minus their star WR. Blackmon is back this week, but Baylor is coming off of a huge win over Texas in Austin. This will be a war, and neither team has played Oklahoma yet.
I Pick: OSU

10. Oklahoma (7-1, 1462)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #13, Defeated Colorado 43-10
Points Gained: 226
This Week: at Texas A&M
The Sooners are just getting warmed up after the loss to Missouri. They still have every chance of getting to the Big 12 title game, and the Aggies won't get in their way.
I Pick: Oklahoma

11. Stanford (7-1, 1406)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #14, Defeated Washington 41-0
Points Gained: 282
This Week: #16 Arizona
This will be the final test for Stanford, but Arizona still has not played Oregon. Stanford would love to take out the Cats, to have the Cats turn around and beat the Ducks, but that probably won't do it. Stanford will still take out the Cats.
I Pick: Stanford

12. Nebraska (7-1, 1345)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #15, Defeated #19 Missouri 31-17
Points Gained: 245
This Week: at Iowa State
The Huskers will not make the mistake that Texas made by taking the Cyclones lightly. Expect the Huskers to do their homework and ace this test.
I Pick: Nebraska

13. LSU (7-1, 1301)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #9, Idle
Points Gained: 0
This Week: #7 Alabama
LSU has hung on all season long. They can still win the SEC West, but they need to win this week, and then have Alabama take out Auburn while winning out. That is a tall order.
I Pick: Alabama

14. Nevada (7-1, 1289)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #16, Defeated Utah State 56-42
Points Gained: 220
This Week: at Idaho
This week will not be a problem for the Wolfpack, as Idaho is falling apart. The defense does have to improve, however.
I Pick: Nevada

15. Wisconsin (7-1, 1288)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #10, Idle
Points Gained: 0
This Week: at Purdue
The Badgers have been going through the motions all season with the exception of the Ohio State game. It's now time to get serious. Purdue poses no threat at this point, so they really need to crush them.
I Pick: Wisconsin

16. Arizona (7-1, 1205)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #18, Defeated UCLA 29-21
Points Gained: 237
This Week: at #11 Stanford
The Wildcats looked highly average in the second half against the Bruins. They may have been looking ahead to this week, but Stanford was not.
I Pick: Stanford

17. Hawaii (7-2, 1139)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #19, Defeated Idaho 45-10
Points Gained: 230
This Week: at #5 Boise State
The Rainbows would shock the world by upsetting the Broncos on the road this week. They obviously don't beleive that they will, as they have already accepted a bid to stay home and play in the Hawaii Bowl.
I Pick: Boise State

18. Northern Illinois (7-2, 1011)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #23, Defeated Western Michigan 28-21
Points Gained: 235
This Week: Idle
The Huskies have come out of nowhere after a very poor start to the season. NIU is going to take the weekend off, but will play Toledo for the MAC West lead on Tuesday.

19. Missouri (7-1, 1097)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #12,Lost to Nebraska 31-17
Points Gained: -147
This Week: at Texas Tech
This was a very bad week for the Tigers. They have handed the Big 12 North back to Nebraska, and they looked very bad in doing so. They should bounce back this week, but they are going to have a hell of a time maintaining a solid bowl birth.
I Pick: Missouri

20. Baylor (7-2, 1011)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #21, Defeated Texas 30-22
Points Gained: 238
This Week: at #9 Oklahoma State
It would be hard for me to think that Baylor can succeed this week after they poured s much in to beating Texas last week. As I said about the Missouri game last week, in the Big 12, teams usually falter after huge emotional wins.
I Pick: OSU

21. San Diego State (6-2, 949)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #25, Defeated Wyoming 48-38
Points Gained: 258
This Week: Colorado State
The Aztecs are playing their best football in 20 years right now. Brady Hoke is definately a candidate for coach of the year in the MWC. Will the Aztecs be able to keep him if a bigger fish comes along?
I Pick: SDSU

22. Iowa (6-2, 903)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #31, Defeated #8 Michigan State 37-6
Points Gained: 268
This Week: at Indiana
The Hawkeyes got a huge shot in the arm last week. This week will be one more shot in the arm.
I Pick: Iowa

23. Virginia Tech (6-2, 902)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #20, Idle
Points Gained: 0
This Week: Georgia Tech (Thursday)
The Hokies came together and found their way after a horrible loss to James Madison in September. They have been ona roll ever since then, and there is no stopping them now. I predict an ACC title for Frank Beamer.
I Pick: Virginia Tech

24. Temple (7-2, 896)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #26, Defeated Akron 30-0
Points Gained: 210
This Week: at Kent State
The Owls have had some stumbles this season at times, but they appear to be on track to get to the MAC title game again this season.
I Pick: Temple

25. Arkansas (6-2, 888)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #28, Defeated Vanderbilt 49-14
Points Gained: 234
This Week: at South Carolina
The Razorbacks have struggled against the better teams in the SEC (Bama, Auburn), and now will get a shot at another. Ryan Mallett has the responsibility to solve Ellis Johnson's defense. Not easy.
I Pick: South Carolina

KNOCKING ON THE DOOR

26. UCF (6-2, 856)
27. Mississippi State (7-2, 854)
28. South Carolina (6-2, 846)
29. Florida State (6-2, 836)
30. NC State (6-2, 772)
31. Maryland (6-2, 733)
32. Northwestern (6-2, 727)
33. Toledo (6-3, 723)
34. USC (5-3, 615)
35. Syracuse (6-2, 592)
