Coaching Update 11/29 5:30PM PST

The latest from the field....

Minnesota
Southern Mississippi AD Richard Giannini has denied to several sources that Larry Fedora had been contacted by Gopher officials. This follows an earlier report that Fedora had been spotted on the Minnesota campus in the last 36 hours.

Utah
footballscoop.com is reporting that DL Coach Jon Pease will retire at the end of the season.

UAB
We have had a bunch of hits as to the status of Neil Callaway, and it has been reconfirmed that he is being retained and that Eric Schumann, the DC, is being released.

UL-Lafayette
Mike Canales is still on the list, and add Georgia Tech OL Coach Mike Sewak, and also add Oklahoma State Assistants Gunter Brewer and Joe DeForest. Mississippi State WR Coach Mark Hudspeth was on an earlier list as well.

Arkansas State
Add Hudspeth to this list as well, as he was hired as HC at North Alabama by Chancellor G. Daniel Howard there. according to footballscoop, current OC Hugh Freeze has lots of on campus support for the job, and former alabama HC and current Memphis assistant Mike DuBose is being considered as a person of interest.

Indiana
Other than Scott Shafer, another name that is surfacing is Mike Mallory. Mallory spent time at Illinois, Kansas, and Northern Illinois as DC and his father Bill Mallroy is a former IU coach. Mallory was a star at LB at Michigan, so his Big 10 credentials are solid. Both candidates are now getting good reviews from a very reliable source and friend of the Bilo College Football Report.

Furman
William & Mary DC Bob Shoop has interviewed for the Furman job. No news on Bill Napier.

More news soon.....
