Coaching Notes FBS and FCS

There have now been 3 coaching changes in the FCS this week. The lates move has Bobby Lamb resigning at Furman after 4 seasons without a playoff birth. Arkansas RB coach Tim Horton and Clemson OC/QB coach Bill Napier are said to be the first targets.

Arizona State AD Lisa Love gave Dennis Erickson the dreaded vote of confidence today, stating that Erickson would definately be back in 2011, and admonishing listeners on a local radio station to ignore the rumors. I gurantee that if Arizona blows out ASU, Erickson will be gone by the next morning under forced resignation from none other than Lover herself.

Todd Berry has received a one year contract extension at UL-Monroe. Can someone please tell me why?

Ralph Friedgen has also received assurances that he will be coaching Maryland in 2011. This is not the kiss of death, as he has had a nice season and deserves at least one more.

Colorado is looking at several candidates, and the latest to join the laundry list is Seattle Seahawk OC Jeremy Bates. According to footballscoop.com, several current head coaches are showing interest in the job. Apparently there many fools who like relatively low pay and bad facilities. Nice. Mike Belotti and Housotn HC Kevin Sumlin are on the wish list as well.

Colorado State-Pueblo HC John Wristen is a candidate to become HC at Northern Colorado. Wristen has done a very nice job of running the start up program at Pueblo and has had solid success right out of the gate. Wyoming DC Marty English is also on the list, but I would think him a bad candidate based on Wyoming's current 2-9 season.

Troy is losing QB coach Chip Lindsey to Spain Park High School in Alabama. Wow.

Idaho State wasted very little time in filling their vacancy by hiring former Montana State HC Mike Kramer.
