Appalachian State, Troy, Arkansas State
Appalachian State's only losses this season have been to Tennessee (let that one get away), and Miami. They are undefeated in Sun Belt play, and are at the top of the conference by one half game. Their biggest challenge in league play is coming up this week, as the Mountaineers must travel to Troy, who is also unbeaten in SBC play. If they can win this game, they have UL-Monroe and New Mexico State left, and those should both be easy wins to wrap up a Sun Belt title, given that they should win the tiebreakers against Arkansas State should they win out.
Troy has been a great story this season, as Neal Brown has turned the corner with this program about a year early. The Trojans, however, have a tougher road than Appalachian State does, as they have to play both the Mountaineers and Arkansas State, and also have games against Texas State and Georgia Southern remaining. Texas State should be a win, but Georgia Southern could end up another spoiler to completely dump Troy out of the race.
Arkansas State had a horrific start to their season, but SBC play has been a nice tonic for what ailed them. Although just 4-4 overall, the Red Wolves are 4-0 in league play, and are in the chase. They do not play App State, but they do get Troy on 11/17. Arkansas State should be favored in their other games against New Mexico State, UL-Lafayette, and Texas State, but one issue for them is the schedule itself, as they play their final three games on the road in conference play, which is terrible scheduling on part of the league.
Bowl Eligible: Appalachian State, Troy
Bowl Ineligible: Georgia State
