Week 2 PASS/FAIL Report: Independents

Independents

PASS: Notre Dame, BYU

Notre Dame will take some beatings for allowing Virginia to play so close, but the Cavaliers are strong at home, even in losing, and the Irish should have no shame in that win on Saturday, especially the way they did it with the deep pass by backup Kizer after Zaire went down for the year. The Irish do slip a bit, however, in the national title hunt picture as the QB situation destabilizes just a bit until further notice.

BYU got another hail Mary answered, and wrapped up with a pick six to come from behind and beat Boise State 35-24 at home. Luck only lasts so long, but as long as the Crazy train hasn’t plummeted off the cliff, ride away. BYU gets UCLA on the road next.

FAIL: Army

The Cadets have lost to both Fordham and U Conn, and by an average of 3.5 points per game. The Cadets are likely not a bowl team at this juncture, and we could start hearing some grumbling about the staff soon.
