With Aaron Rogers being out for a huge chunk of 2017, the Packers were still alive for a wild card spot until quite late. The team still finished 7-9, and the Packers need some weapons in a big way. Needs were listed at CB, LB, WR, and OL. Here is my draft grade for their picks:
CB Jaire Alexander, Louisville
Great player with great value, as the Packers traded down, then back up again to get him. Alexander has starter ability on day one.
Grade: A
CB Josh Jackson, Iowa
Jackson had late 1st round grades, and slipped into the top of the second. The Packers concentrated on the secondary as a primary need, and locked down two quality guys for the CB Spot.
Grade: A
LB Oren Burks, Vanderbilt
Burks was graded as a late 4th to 5th round pick. Burks was projected, at best, as a career backup and special teams player. This was an awful reach.
Grade: D
WR J'Mon Moore, Missouri
Had a 4th round grade, and for the first time the team addressed a need for an offensive play maker. It may take him more time to develop into that role than the Packers may have.
Grade: B
OT Cole Madison, Washington State
I thought he was underrated, and he fell where he was valued. Solid pick here, with value.
Grade: A
P JK Scott, Alabama
Not sure about the need, but some (not me) had a 3rd round grade on him. They got him in the 5th.
Grade: B
WR Marquez Valdes-Schilling, USF
Reached by a full round when better options were available.
Grade: C
WR Equanimeous St. Brown, Notre Dame
3rd round value, but dropped because he had no QB to get him the ball last season. Great value here for a potential starter.
Grade: A
DE James Looney, California
Developmental DE who may not fit the position physically.
Grade: C
LS Hunter Bradley, Mississippi State
Was not graded. Total reach, even in the 7th round.
Grade: F
DE/OLB Kendall Donnerson, SE Missouri State
Developmental edge rusher who graded as a 7th rounder. Value was there late.
Grade: B
Priority needs filled in first two days: 1
Total Points: 30
Point average per pick: 2.73
Grade: C
