2018 NFL Draft Grades: Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles broke through in 2017 with a Super Bowl title after beating New England, and they look poised to get back there again. With few needs and a loaded roster, what could Doug Pederson and company do to cement their place as Super Bowl contenders? They did have priority needs listed at RB, WR, TE, OL, and LB.

TE Dallas Goedert, South Dakota State
After having massive success with an FCS pick two years ago, the Eagles traded out of the bottom of the 1st round, and landed another top flight small school product in Goedert, one of the most electrifying pass catching TEs in this draft class. Goedert should move right into position to make his QBs (Wentz and Foles) very happy indeed.
Grade: A

CB Avonte Maddox, Pittsburgh
The secondary was not much of a need for the Eagles, and Maddox provides some depth with decent value. Not a perfect fit, but not a terrible one either.
Grade: B

EDGE Josh Sweat, Florida State
They got 3rd round value in the 4th round with Sweat, but they will need to develop him a bit with a move to OLB likely, as his lack of inherent bulk will kick him out of playing DE on this level every down. Still, a solid pick, with the ability to develop him into a need position.
Grade: A

OT Matt Pryor, TCU
Pryor has massive size and experience at both RT and LT in college. His expectation will be to provide depth for the Eagles, which is something that is needed. Solid value in the 6th round with this pick.
Grade: A

OT Jordan Mailata, Australia
There was a lot of buzz surrounding the former rugby player with no experience in American football, but he has massive size and physical talent to develop into something down the road. He was graded as a 7th round pick, and the Eagles got him exactly there. It works or it doesn't.
Grade: B

Priority needs filled in first two days: 1
Total Points: 18
Average points per pick: 3.6
Grade: A
