2018 NFL Draft Grades: Oakland Raiders

The Raiders may have been one of the biggest disappointments in the NFL last season, finishing just 6-10. They moved on from Jack Del Rio, and moved on bringing back Chucky, but is that the move that will end up being the cure all? The Raiders needed help at OL, DL, LB, CB, and S, so let's take a look at what they did to fill said needs.

OT Kolton Miller, UCLA
Miller was a player who lacked nastiness and overall athleticism in college, and could max out as a decent, but not great RT. He had first round value for some, but I just don't love the player. The Raiders traded down to 15 after losing out on Roquan Smith, who was long rumored to be their target
Grade: B

NT PJ Hall, Sam Houston State

The Raiders needed help on the line, but they lunged and reached in the 2nd round for a player with a 3rd round grade, at best. This was not the best available option pertaining to who was available at this spot.
Grade: C

OT Brandon Parker, North Carolina A&T
A developmental player and depth prospect, the Raiders reached two full rounds to grab him in the 3rd. Again, not sure what the plan was, but this could not have been it.
Grade: D

EDGE Arden Key, LSU
A red flag player that had to be pulled out of college because his partying got way too out of control. He was lucky that LSU let him back in the door. I am no fan.
Grade:D

CB Nick Nelson, Wisconsin
Productive in college, but incredibly undersized to play outside CB. He could figure in as a slot cover guy or nickel corner for now.
Grade: B

DT Maurice Hurst, Michigan
Has some real ability, but may be undersized for the next level to play inside, has had some heart issues, medically speaking, and has a maxed out frame. Good value, and if he works out, he could be a steal, but there were a ton of flags here, which is why he fell so far.
Grade: B

P Johnny Townsend, Florida
He was graded as a UDFA despite being one of the best punters in the nation last season. I think that he was under valued, but still, he should not have been drafted until much later, if at all.
Grade: D

LB Azeem Victor, Washington
Victor lost his way at Washington last season, started and ended his year on a suspension, and lost his starting job. I would never have drafted this guy, even on day three. Another red flag guy, and that makes 2 for this draft for the Raiders. Again, I highly question strategy going in.
Grade: F

WR Marcell Ateman, Oklahoma State
Really played in the shadow of James Washington with the Cowboys, but he could really be the gem of this class for the Raiders, even though WR was not a projected priority need. With a little time in the developmental tank, he could emerge down the road.
Grade: A

Priority needs filled in first two days: 2
Total Points: 18
Average points per pick: 2.0
Grade: D
