2018 NFL Draft Grades: Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks seem to be sinking fast in the NFC West, and the Pete Carroll era has less and less time left in the tank. If he wants to go out with a bang in the next few seasons, this class would be pertinent to that mission. With needs at TE, OL, DL, CB, and S, did the Hawks do what needed to be done to get back on track after a disappointing 9-7 season?

RB Rashaad Penny, San Diego State
This pick shocked a ton of folks, and RB was not a priority need for Seattle. I love the player, and love his ability in the run game, pass game, and in kick returns, he did not fit the team. Still, I love the player.
Grade: A

DE Rasheem Green, USC
Another player that I really liked in this class. Carroll hits the old USC well once again, and fills a need with a guy who can have some impact this year at solid value.
Grade: A

TE Will Dissly, Washington
Carroll and company went down the street to get Dissly, but he had a 6th round stamp on him, and they reached to get him in the 4th. He also projects as having backup value, and that depends on how long he can stick it out. Not a great swing here.
Grade: C

LB Shaquem Griffin, UCF
The story became about his missing hand, but the story should have always been about how this guy is one hell of a football player. I love the pick, love the value, and love the player.
Grade: A

S Tre Flowers, Oklahoma State
Flowers was an impact player from day one at OSU, and he stands to make an impact on the next level as well. He is a reserve for now, but watch him exceed expectations down the road.
Grade: A

P Michael Dickson, Texas
2017 was a solid year for Punters in college football, and Dickson was one of the very best. He had a 3rd round draft grade on him, which was a massive flight upward in the final week, and the Hawks get him in the 5th. Not bad.
Grade: B

OT Jamarco Jones, Ohio State
Jones was another riser late into the process, but still ended up falling two rounds below where he graded out at when he was at his highest ranking. He fills a need, and the NFL people believe that he could be a starter down the road. We shall see, but for now, good pick.
Grade: A

EDGE Jake Martin, Temple
They reached on this prospect, and he will need time to bulk up and evolve into an OLB on this level. That makes him a severe long shot.
Grade: D

QB Alex McGough, Florida International
He was not really evaluated or graded through the process, and although he had a decent career at FIU, he was never great. I don't see this working out, and don't understand the pick.
Grade: F

Priority needs filled in first two days: 1
Total Points: 26
Average points per pick: 2.89
Grade: C
