With a full four weeks played out, it is time to see where every conference in FBS football ranks for the first month of the season. There were some surprises this month, such as the Big 12, as a Power Five Conference, not even ranking in our top five.
These numbers are put together based on every school's PRS Rankings points, added together within their conference and then divided by the number of teams in their conference.
Here are the overall Power Rankings for each conference in FBS:
1. Big 10 307.93...Four teams in the PRS top ten drove this number.
2. SEC 298.86...As you can see, not far behind, but the bottom of the league made this happen.
3. ACC 278.64...Louisville took control early and has had the top spot for 3 weeks. That helped.
4. PAC-12 225.08...It has not been a great month for this conference, and USC helped sink the ship.
5. AAC 187.5...Houston, Memphis, and Navy had solid months, but bottom half is bad.
6. Big 12 127.7...Oklahoma being awful in September was bad, Kansas and Iowa State were worse.
7.Independents -50.5...Army was strong until week 4, ND, BYU, U Mass all were awful.
8. Mountain West -71.42...Boise State, SDSU, Air Force carried the load, but getting no help.
9. MAC -88.75...WMU, CMU, Toledo are solid, but 4 teams in bottom 15.
10. Sun Belt -123.18...Arkansas State loss to C. Arkansas this week was no bonus.
11. Conference USA -263.39...CUSA has been awful, with even top programs being terrible so far.
Mountain West, Conference USA, and Sun Belt all finished the period scored with only three schools each earning positive points for the first month of the season. Conference USA was the biggest surprise of the group, as Louisiana Tech and Marshall have been awful to start, and Rice and FIU both scored in the -700 range. FIU was so bad that Ron Turner was already fired, with FIU placing dead last in our FBS PRS Rankings this week.
Georgia, considered as a national power, ranks behind Eastern Michigan this week, and LSU and Akron are neck and neck. That helped the SEC slip to number two this month.
