Mountain West
PASS: Air Force,
Boise State
Air Force is 3-0 for the 1st time since 2008
after a pair of scoring drives led the Falcons to a 27-20 win over Utah State
in MWC play. The Falcons, whose vaunted rushing attack was largely nulled,
scored 14 points off of turnovers in the win.
Boise State ran off to a 31-7 lead at the half at
Corvallis, and eventually held off Oregon State in a 38-24 win. Jeremy McNichol
rushed for 208 yards and 3 TDs for the win, and is easily flying under every
radar in the nation right now.
FAIL: Utah State,
Colorado State, San Jose State, Nevada, Fresno State, UNLV, Wyoming
Utah State had their 11 game home winning streak snapped,
and allowed 14 points on turnovers after largely stopping the Air Force rushing
game in a blown opportunity loss.
Colorado State allowed 4 rushing TDs in a close loss at
Minnesota, a game that the Rams easily could have won. Collin Hill, who was
explosive last week, was merely average this week.
San Jose State had a big chance to pick up a road win
over a reeling Iowa State club, but was blown out instead for the second time
this season in a humiliating 44-10 loss.
Nevada, who was averaging over 200 yards per game on the
ground, was held to just 68, and a late pick thrown into the end zone allowed
Purdue to steal the win.
Fresno State scored 31 in the 1st half and led
Tulsa throughout most of the game at home, but eventually, as they do, the Bulldogs
imploded, scored just 10 points after the half, and lost to Tulsa 48-41 in OT.
UNLV is a young team, but there was no excuse to lose at
home to Idaho in OT. UNLV had over 500 yards of offense, but the defense gave
the game away.
Wyoming had an equally head scratching loss to Eastern
Michigan on the road, and failed to capitalize on 4 EMU interceptions in their
27-24 loss. Wyoming continues to find ways to lose games under Craig Bohl.
