Some names have popped up tonight from Dan Wolken at USA Today for the Miami job, and he's being rather dire about the condition of the Miami program. Stating relatively small enrollment and stadium issues, Wolken claims that Miami will run this thing on a "have not" budget, so a big splashy hire isn't likely.
Wolken names the following candidates for the Miami job:
Greg Schiano...I find this legitimate, but he could also end up at Rutgers once Kyle Flood is fired.
Rich Rodriguez...I find this utterly ridiculous, as Rich Rod could make more money in Tucson.
Tommy Tuberville...If you want to not improve at all, then this is a great candidate.
Larry Fedora...If you want to end up back in scandal, this may be your guy, as he's embroiled in it.
Doc Holliday, Marshall...A really interesting candidate, if he is one. Could be the best of the bunch.
Mario Christobal...Never should have fired him at FIU, is the OL coach at Alabama.
Frank Wilson...Associate HC at LSU, Les Miles' right hand man may be too non-splashy.
Tom Herman...If USC can't pry him away from Houston, Miami certainly won't.
Justin Fuente...Memphis is a better gig than Miami these days.
Mark Richt...This was a joke, right?
Lane Kiffin...Now we know this is a joke.
More as news comes available.
