Week 6 Games of
the Week
Here are our games to watch in week 6 of the 2015 college
football season:
PRS #8
California at PRS #9 Utah (Saturday, 7:30PM PST)
This is a huge test for both programs as the Bears and
Utes are on the rise in the PAC-12 North and South. Utah is largely believed to
be able to control their own destiny in the South after UCLA was beaten last
week, while California has the same situation to go on. Right now, the big test
is for each of these two teams to get through this brutal contest unscathed. Pick: Utah
PRS #17
Northwestern at PRS #22 Michigan (Saturday, 12:30 PST)
This is a battle of the two best defenses in the Big 10,
and two surprising stories of success as well. Nobody saw Northwestern or
Michigan sitting at this place as we head into October. Expect a war in the Big
House in what should be a low scoring defensive grind. Pick: Northwestern
PRS #24 Navy at
PRS #21 Notre Dame (Saturday, 12:30 PST)
Notre Dame is coming off of an exhausting 2 point loss at
Clemson last weekend, and now must face a devastating Navy rushing attack that
has no problems moving the football and scoring this season, their first in the
AAC. The Irish had no real trouble with Georgia Tech’s attack earlier this
season, and this is largely the same option offense, but will Notre Dame have
the emotional stability his week to look past their loss last week to a team
that can largely pull an upset?Pick: Notre Dame
South Carolina
State at Bethune-Cookman (Thursday, 4:30 PST)
This has become a huge MEAC rivalry over the last few
seasons, with both teams pushing for playoff berths annually. There will be no
playoffs for MEAC schools with the Heritage Bowl in place, but that doesn’t
change the rivalry that has been built. The Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman should
be favored, but look for the Bulldog defense to have something to say before
the night is out. Pick: Bethune-Cookman
Furman at
Chattanooga (Saturday, 10AM PST)
Chattanooga has been the hands down favorite to win the
SoCon, but they have not exactly played up to their overall potential as of
yet. Furman has been up and down, but did manage to defeat FBS member UCF this
season in a defensive struggle. If the Mocs play as inconsistently as they
have, the Paladins will be more than happy to ruin their parade.Pick: Chattanooga
San Diego at Dayton (Saturday, 10AM PST)
Dayton is ranked #4 in this week’s FCS PRS rankings, while USD is ranked 30th due to a weak non con schedule. The Toreros will be tested to the end of time Saturday by the high powered Flyers. With Dayton being the more tested of the two, they should squeak this win out, but it won’t be easy in a high stakes Pioneer League game.
Pick: Dayton
Yale at
Dartmouth (Saturday, 10:30 AM PST)
Dartmouth enters the week ranked #8 in our FCS PRS
Rankings, while Yale ranks 17th. Neither team has lost as of yet. The
winner gets to hang around and push Harvard for the Ivy League title, while the
winner will find themselves way behind the 8 ball early.Pick: Dartmouth
Northern Iowa at North Dakota State (Saturday, 11AM PST)
UNI upset NDSU last season, and the Panthers are coming back for more, and already have a win over Eastern Washington notched. NDSU survived a huge test game last weekend by pounding rival South Dakota State. UNI feels like they have one more upset in store, but the Bison will be out for revenge.
Pick: North Dakota State
SE Louisiana at
McNeese State (Saturday, 4PM PST)
McNeese State enters the week ranked 7th in
our PRS FCS Rankings, but the Lions look like they can push the Cowboys to
their limit with a power run game. Look for McNeese to use their home edge and
edge out SELU in a strong SLC rivalry game in Louisiana. Pick: McNeese State
Illinois State
at Youngstown State (Saturday, 4PM PST)
It’s yet another Missouri Conference war taking place
amongst some of the best teams in the nation, as 13th ranked
Illinois State has to take to the road to face Bo Pelini and the 15th
ranked Penguins. Pelini is looking for an early signature win for YSU, and this
would absolutely be that if they can use the home crowd to their advantage. Pick: Youngstown State
Indiana State
at South Dakota State (Saturday, 4PM PST)
We stick in the MVC (the best conference in FCS football
this season) for yet another huge early conference showdown, as the 11th
ranked ISU Sycamores try to kick 21st ranked SDSU while they are
down from getting hammered by North Dakota State last week. The Jackrabbits
cannot afford to lose another conference game in the playoff chase, so this is
a must win for them.Pick: South Dakota State
