Here are my top RB picks so far this season in the FBS
1. Kendell Hunter-Oklahoma State
Hunter has rushed for almost 158 yards per game in 2010, with 6 scores in 3 games. Don't be surprised if you see him bust the 20 TD plateau this season. Heisman dark horse here...don't count him out.
2. Daniel Thomas-Kansas State
Thomas has rushed for 157 yards this season, and is primarily responsible for the offensive side in keeping K-State at 4-0. He did step back a bit last weekend, as he was held to 75 yards by UCF, but that game was played in awful weather.
3. LaMichael James-Oregon
James didn't play in game one against New Mexico, but the Ducks didn't need him. He has been insane ever since, rushing for just under 152 yards per game with 4 scores in just 3 games of action.
4. Ronnie Hillman-San Diego State
QB Ryan Lindley gets a lot of the attention in partyville USA, but Hillman has taken a bunch of pressure off of him with some spectacular performances. Best of all, nobody had heard of him outside of the Mountain West before this season.
5. Bobby Rainey- Western Kentucky
The Hilltoppers are just absolutely awful, but imagine how much worse they would be without a start back like Rainey. Wish he was with a better team.
Honorable Mention
Bryce Beall-Houston...9 TDs so far, will keep the pressure off of young QB Terrence Broadway.
DeMarco Murray-Oklahoma...Scoring machine needs to get the ball in the 4th to kill clock.
Le'Veon Bell/Edwin Baker-Michigan State...If these guys could be morphed into one...wow.
John Clay-Wisconsin...He does everything that Badgers need him to do, but rest of offense has to be better.
Adam Robinson-Iowa...It's all on him now withall of the injuries.

FBS MVP Candidates-QB
Here are the top 5 candidates for our QB of the Year Award. These players have great stats to back them up, but also meant the most to their team in piling up these numbers. Expect fluxuations as the season progresses. These players are not numbered in any order, and you will have a chance to vote in polls that we will place here on the blog next week.
1. Denard Robinson-Michigan
Shoelace has been carrying the Wolverines on his back all season long. His average of 182 yards per game through the air don't mean much, but when you add his rushing totals of 172 per game and 6 scores, to go with his 4 passing TDs, you have to realize what Robinson means to the Wolverines right now. Definite Heisman front runner at this point, but here comes Big 10 play, and remember, we thought that Tate Forcier would be beating the world this time last season.
2. Cameron Newton-Auburn
And to think that Florida could still have this guy. Damn that Tim Tebow...
Newton is ruhing for 125 yards a game with 5 scores, and is averaging 170 through the air. He has scored a total of 14 TDs in 4 games, and he has saved Auburn's ass big time with his drives from behind. Auburn would not be 4-0 with any other QB taking the snaps right now.
3. Brandon Weeden, Oklahoma State
Zac who? That has to be what people in Stillwater are thinking with Weeden taking the snaps. He has been amazing this season in Dana Holgerson's offense, averaging 325 yards per game with 11 TDs against just 2 picks. This guy has serious moxey, and The Cowboys are going places with him, and his partner in crime, Kendell Hunter.
4. Brian Moniz-Hawaii
Moniz has been stellar in keeping Hawaii afloat in 2010. He was having a monster of a game against USC before going down to injury, but he has been incredible ever since, averaging 334 yard per game with 11 TDs. He is the key to keeping Hawaii relevant in 2010, and his output could earn Hawaii a bowl birth.
5. Russell Wilson-NC State
Wilson has been a beast in 2010, and has completely taken the reins of this offense. His TD/INT ratio is 11/1 and he ran for a score against Georgia Tech last weekend to put the game away. He may wind up being one of the first QBs to go in the NFL draft next spring.
6. Colin Kaepernick-Nevada
I had to break my own rule of 5 to add Kaepernick on. He is a treat to watch as he runs the pistol to perfection, and his passing game is coming along in leaps and bounds, as his rushing game was always stellar. He has scored 15 TDs in just 4 games, and is becoming one of my favorite players in the game.
Honorable Mention
Terrence Cain-Utah...Has kept the Utes together during Jordan Wynn's injury related absence from the lineup...will give up the job when Wynn's thumb is better.
Dan Persa-Northwestern...Persa has the Wildcats at 4-0 and climbing in the PRS. He is very productive in the spread read option offense and his TD/Pick ratio is 8/1.
Ricky Stanzi-Iowa...Stanzi is having a solid season, but the loss at Arizona has hurt him slightly. He is working with a banged up RB corps, so people are more likely to key in on the pass.
Ryan Colburn-Fresno State...Colburn has kept the Bulldogs from diving into an offensive black hole after the loss of Ryan Matthews after last season. Colburn could be the most productive Fresno QB in some time, and there have been some good ones that have come through there.
Andrew Luck-Stanford...Luck has been a stud for Jim Harbaugh. He is stamping his star status every weekend, and is only going to get better. He is living proof that Jake Locker is not the best QB in the conference.

GAME OF THE WEEK
Wisconsin (4-0) at Michigan State (4-0)
Vegas Line: PK
Mark Dantonio will be back coaching from the press box this weekend. I hope that he doesn't have to make any last second thriller calls this week.
Badger QB Scott Tolzien has improved after a tough start, as he now has 5 TDs to 2 picks in 4 games. John Clay is kicking it into gear with 501 yards and 6 scores. The WR corps has had some injury issues, with Nick Toon missing significant time to injury. No worries as Lance Kendricks has been the go to guy in the passing game, with 17 catches for 299 yards and 3 scores. The defense has not had many picks, but they have held their opponents to under 16 points per game.
For the Spartans, it's been the Bell and Baker show. Edwin baker has rushed for 112.25 yards per game with 5 scores, while Le'Veon Bell has rushed for 99 yards per game with 7 scores. Add that production to Kirk Cousins' 215.8 yards per game, and you will see a multiheaeded monster that has been beyond difficult to stop.
The Spartans gave up 31 points to Notre Dame, and 38 to their other 3 opponents combined. The defense has forced 6 picks with LB Greg Jones averaging 8.25 tackles per game.
I pick: The return of Mark Dantonio this weekend should be enough to super charge the Spartans, and they look like the team to beat on Staurday. I'll take MSU, and Wisconsin's pretender status will be certified.
The Best of the Rest
Michigan (4-0) at Indiana (3-0)
Vegas Line: UM -10.5
Indiana has had their typical cupcake non-conference slate to feast on, but now come the first real challenge for QB Ben Chappell and company. Both teams have a big habit of starting their losing ways right about...now, so this is a very important game for both to get off to a solid start in Big 10 play.
I pick: Michigan...Denard Robinson could win this game all by himself, but he'll have to watch the knee.
Texas (3-1) at Oklahoma (4-0)
Vegas Line: OU -4
Texas can't be quite as bad as they were against UCLA, but Oklahoma has been winning in less than Sooner-like ways this season. Both teams have a lot to work on coming into this game, with Texas needing to find decent QB and RB play, while also needing to learn how to tackle running backs. OU needs to put people away and keep them there.
I pick: OU...Landry Jones, DeMarco Murray far outclass any of the skill position guys that Texas has right now. If OU gets an early lead, it will be interesting to see if they can put them away in the 4th.
Stanford (4-0) at Oregon (4-0)
Vegas Line: Oregon -6
It would be easy to dismiss Stanford as they travel into loud and hostile Eugene, but this team is coached by Jim Harbaugh, and you cannot dismiss him easily. Stanford will be well prepared, and they have the talent to compete against the Ducks.
Oregon is favored, and Chip Kelly signed a huge contract extension this week, so the Ducks are likely expected to celebrate the new deal with a win at home. Darrin Thomas will need to have a huge game at QB, which means don't make bad throws, and get the ball to LaMichael James and Kenjon Barner.
Both teams love to score, so watch out for defensive lapses, as both teams are capable of the huge play downfield.
I pick: Oregon at home, but it can really go either way.
Florida (4-0) at Alabama (4-0)
Vegas Line: Alabama -7
Most folks feel that this is the SEC title game preview, and at this point, I'd have to agree. Both Kentucky and South Carolina had their chances to keep pace last weekend, and both blew it, leaving the Gators at the head of the East. Florida may slip back to join them this week, as I have to be honest, but I don't see Alabama losing this game this weekend. The Tide has owned the top spot for 10 of the last 14 weeks in the PRS, and Saban has risen to the top of the game.
I pick: Alabama...The Tide is just better right now...Florida may give them a run in the SEC title game.
Penn State (3-1) at Iowa (3-1)
Vegas Line: Iowa -7
QB Play will be the difference, and that means that Iowa has the edge. Ricky Stanzi has to play mistake free football, and will probably be shouldering a bigger load with the depth issues at RB due to injury. Penn State will make a game of it going into the 4th, but this is not their year.
I pick: Iowa

There is only one game on tap for Thursday night in 1-A. Let's take a look at how it breaks down...
Texas A&M at Oklahoma State
Vegas Line: OSU -3
7:45 (EST) Kickoff
The Aggies took last weekend off. They barely survived a major scare at home the week before as they had trailed FIU 20-6 going into the 4th quarter. The Aggies found a way to make the win happen, and scored three TDs in the 4th to limp away 27-20.
What's Going Right
The offense is moving in the right direction, as the Aggies are dropping an average of 501.3 yards per game. Jerrod Johnson is passing for an average of 288.3 yards per game, and RB Christine Michael is rushing for 110.3 yards per game with 3 scores. Jeff Fuller and Ryan Swope have been the leades in the receiving corps with 18 and 21 grabs respectively, with Fuller hauling in 3 TDs.
Dustin Harris has returned a punt for a score, and is averaging 12.8 yards per return.
The defense has been solid up to this point, only allowing 69 yards rushing per game.
What's Not So Great
The rush D stat is misleading, as the Aggies have not played a strong rushing team yet. You almost have to look at the FIU game as a bit of an indicator that this team may have a tendency to lose focus, as they never should have trailed FIU at all. If you also look at their points allowed in 3 games, that total has gone up every single week, again, an indicator that the 3-0 record could be an illusion.
Jerrod Johnson has also been turnover prone, as he has tossed 4 picks in 3 games, and the offensive line has allowed him to be sacked 10 times in 3 games. Bad line play is most likely the reason for the 4 picks, but Johnson and the offensive staff have got to find a way to allow him to move the pocket on rollouts and bootlegs to keep defenses honest.
OSU also took the week off last weekend. The last time out was a gem for the Cowboys, having dismantled Tulsa 65-28. Several players have stepped up to fill big roles for the Cowboys, and even though they struggled somewhat against Troy, games against Tulsa and Washington State were open season routs.
What's Going Right
QB play has been a very nice surprise as Brandon Weeden has put up 325 yards per game and 11 scores against just two picks. He has only been sacked 3 times, as the line has been amazing, which has also opened some terrific opportunities for RB Kendell Hunter. Hunter has rushed for 473 yard in three games, avergaing 157.7 per with 6 TDs rushing in 3 games. WR Justin Blackmon is just one more player that has been off the hook, as he has 24 catches for 431 yards and 8 TDs.
What's Not So Great
The lightning style of offensive play has taken some heat off of this very average defense. They have given up 83 points in 3 games, and have allowed 8 TDs. With the Aggies holding big play potential, this D is going to have to have shored up some holes in practice to prevent this game from turning into an open field shootout.
What to Expect

If Tech can get the ball into the hands of RB Dontey Gray and WR Tim Benford, than they have a solid shot at taking the win, which they should at home.

There are also two games in D2 action, one of which being a big time top 25 showdown.

1-A (FBS) PRS (Power Ratings System) Week 4
Welcome to the 4th release of the 1-A PRS for 2010. Not too many changes at the top, but some teams took a beating. Texas fell clear out of the top 25 after their thrashing by UCLA in Austin last week. Kentucky dropped to 24th. South Carolina and Arkansas fell out of the top 25 as well. New to the Power Rankings top 25 this week: Army, Kansas State, and Missouri.

UM has to be somewhat conscious that this is when the team has begun to fold the last two seasons. This game may be the most important game that UM has played to date, just to clear their head of any impending curse of the Big 10 schedule under Rich Rodriguez. The best news of the week is that Denard Robinson will be able to play.

The Wildcats have got to be pumped that they are in this position at this time of year. The major concern one has is how they allowed CMU to come back from a 30-13 deficit late, but the Chippewas are a damn good football team, and they'll do that to you. Minnesota has completely checked out as a football team, and so the Cats should be able to beat them up early and walk away with a win.

UK really didn't have a shot at the swamp. This was a perfect opportunity to knock Florida from the top of the heap in the SEC east, but UK just does not have the same kind of fire power and never could find lightning in a bottle. They get a chance to get back in the game at home against the Rebels, but it's another road trip after a rough week. This could be dangerous.

Minnesota has completely checked out as a football team, and so the Cats should be able to beat them up early and walk away with a win.

Welcome to the 4th release of the 2010 Bilo Football Poll (PRS). Good luck to whomever you may be routing for this week. Once again, there were several fluctuations in the top 35. Alabama State plummeted out of the top 25 after falling to Alcorn State 41-21. Florida A&M took a nasty tumble out of the top 35 after falling upset victim to Tennessee State, who had been on a free fall coming into the game. Liberty was another casualty, after falling to #3 James Madison, as was South Dakota after falling to North Dakota State, who moved up to #11 this week. New teams into the top 25 include Alcorn State, Grambling, Yale, Texas State, Dartmouth, and Illinois State.

Villanovoa has a balanced offense and a defense that is only giving up a shade less than 6 points per game in 1-AA play (they gave up 31 to Temple).

He'll have to be more effective to try and steal a win this week, and Mike Paulus played in relief last week, although he has been relatively ineffective as well outside of the game winning toss against Maine.
