Taught a Master's Class
Southern Miss Golden Eagles
Maybe Larry Fedora finally has the Eagles flying in the right direction. Maybe Kansas just sucks. Whatever the case, USM dominated Kansas on Friday night, and they looked more like the team that I thought that they could be rather than the team that failed to show up at South Carolina on opening night.

Central Florida Knights
UCF held Buffalo's high powered offense to 10 points and won despite the offense never really kicking into gear. This game was tougher than it looked on paper, and UCF was fortunate to win by 2 scores.

UTEP Miners
The Miners needed a win, and got one at the expense of their rivals. When you play bad teams, you need to control every aspect of the game, and the Miners did just that.

Tulane Green Wave
Tulane succeeded by not playing...good job.

Didn't Learn Much
SMU Mustangs
I felt that SMU would fail to run WSU out of the building, and that's what materialized. The Mustangs need to amp up for the coming part of the schedule, as Houston is extremely vulnerable. There is no way that SMU shouldn't be a contender to take the western division now.

Memphis Tigers
The Tigers got a win over MTSU without their star QB at home. A win is a good thing for Memphis, as they are rare as an official chupacabra sighting, but it's hard to jump up and down over this one.

UAB Blazers
You can't win a shootout every week like UAB won this one. At some time a defense has to develop, and you have to find ways to win without falling behind big, only to stage frantic comebacks. This has been the Blazers MO this season.

Failing Grade
East Carolina Pirates
The Pirates had a 3-0 record and aa win over Virginia Tech firmly in sight, and then came the 4th quarter. Time to rebound boys. The good news is that ECU is still far better than any of us expected.

Marshall Thundering Herd
Marshall flopped last week when they had a shot at a major win over West Virginia. This week, they let those bad vibes take their toll, and they found themselves down to Bowling Green 28-14 at the half. That was enough to ruin their day. Time to learn how to win.

Rice Owls
Rice got their one win for the season last week. No need to be greedy.

Tulsa Golden Hurricane
Did a hurricane interupt practice last week? It would seem so when you allow a team to pile up 722 yards on you. Tulsa has given up 124 points total to OSU and East Carolina.

Houston Cougars
Life is about to get rough in H Town. The Cougars lost both Case Keenum and Cotton Turner for the season in the loss to UCLA. Even with Keenum in the game, it looked as if the Cougars were just as lifeless as can be. Someon believed the press clippings as to how bad the Bruins are, and everyone took the week off. Shameful.

Week 4 Schedule
TCU (3-0) at SMU (2-1)...Friday
UAB (1-2) at Tennessee (1-2)
UCF (2-1) at Kansas State (3-0)
Tulane (1-1) at Houston (2-1)
Central Arkansas (3-0) at Tulsa (1-2)
Southern Miss (2-1) at Louisiana Tech (1-2)
Ohio (1-2) at Marshall (0-3)
Baylor (2-1) at Rice (1-2)
Memphis (1-2) at UTEP (2-1)
East Carolina is idle
