Taught a Master's Class
Temple Owls
Al golden won a chess match against the Chippewas. The offense was bogged downmost of the night, with Bernard Pierce even bogged down for most of the game. His secondary was having problems containing the arm og Ryan Radcliffe. Yet, the Owls still found a way to win.

Western Michigan
Bill Cubit's kids needed this win badly on Saturday. They have been maligned for going on 2 years now, and have fallen far short of expectations. Alex Carder passed for 298 yards and 5 scores, and the Broncos got a mchneeded confidence booster, especially after halftime. WR Jordan White caught 2 TD passes on the night.

Didn't Learn Much
Central Michigan Chippewas
The Temple game was one of the toughest that Central will play all season. It's too bad that it fell so early in the year, but don't be shocked if these two meet in the MAC title game in December. Ryan Radcliffe is a joy to watch at QB, and he will just keep getting better and better.

Miami (Ohio)
The Redskins are making gains a little at a time, and every win is quality right now. A team has to learn to win, and that comes with time. Miami is right where I had projected them over the summer. There won't be many, if any, dominating wins, but winning the close ones is what builds character, and they pulled it off.

Toledo Rockets
Well, the Rockets are one of the more maddening teams in college football this season. Just when you think that they have one identity after the Arizona loss, they go on the road and create a new one in a win over Ohio. That being said, this was an ugly win. Neither team had an offense, and the stalemate was not seperated until the 4th quarter.

Northern Illinois Huskies
NIU had been a favorite to win the MAC West over CMU this season, but I have not see any evidence that the Huskies are that team yet. The Huskies need to feel very fortunate that they didn't end up in the 1-AA chum bucket after barely escaping from North Dakota.

Failing Grade
Akron Zips
I am starting to think that the nickname may end up being prophetic as to the 2010 win total for Akron. This was a terrible loss for the Zips. Alex Allen rushed for 3 scores, and he and Nate Burney both busted the 100 yard rushing mark. The Zips even got ahead 14-3 early. This one makes you shake your head in disgust.

Eastern Michigan Hurons
One thing that you can say that's positive about EMU is that they have lost by a TD or less in both games this season, losing by an average of 3.5 points per game. The bad news is that they are still 0-2.

Kent State Golden Flashes
This was a tall order this weekend. It was too tall in the end, as BC managed to pull away a little bit late, and the Flashes went dark. QB Spencer Keith was intercepted twice on the day, and all of the good vibes from the rout over Murray State are out the window now.

Bowling Green Falcons
I have been a fan of the Falcons for years, but this team doesn't have it right now. They came close to upsetting Troy, and this week, they played a desperate Tulsa squad coming off of a shocking loss on the road. The Falcons lost so much fire power after last season, and so they are in rebuilding mode, and hopefully it will go quickly.

Ohio Bobcats
The Cats had a chance to get an early conference win, but it wasn't in the cards, as Ohio bumbled on offense all day long. Ohio may have been looking slightly ahead to playing Ohio State this week, but as a MAC member, you cannot afford to think ahead.

Ball State Cardinals
Not a shock here. I warned against an upset minded Liberty team, and they have a solid QB in Mke Brown who will beat you if he's able. Brown passed for 276 yards and rushed for another 87 yards, and Ball State has lost 2 games to 1-AA teams in two years. Not solid for a resume.

Buffalo Bulls
This team looked nothing like the team that rolled late in a win over Rhode Island. Jerry Davis never got started on Saturday, and the Bulls were torn asunder by the Baylor Bears in Waco.
