Thursday Night Preview

Only one game tonight in 1-A football, so let's get on it...

Cincinnati (1-1) at NC State (2-0)
Vegas Line: NC State -2
UC comes into the game with a sagging offense that's ranking 95th in the nation. That's a far fall from a team that was in the top 10 in 2009 under Brian Kelly. UC did rush for 263 yards in a 40-7 win over Indiana State last week, but the Bearcats only led 12-7 at the half against possibly the worst team in the 1-AA Missouri Valley Conference. Zach Collaros has not been picked off yet in 2010, but he is averaging a very pedestrian 174.5 yards per game passing. That being said, UC coach Butch Jones is looking to push the rushing game tonight.

Russell Wilson has a 5-0 TD to pick ratio so far in 2010, and is averaging 205 yards per game through the air. The problem for NC State is that there is no established star in the backfield. Dean Haynes and Mustafa Greene will share the carries again tonight. TJ Graham will be Wilson's number one target.

I pick: I am not spun one way or another, but UC had a great deal of troouble playing on the road at Fresno State. I will lean towards NC State at home.

1-AA Thursday Night Games
Lane at Tennessee Tech
Newberry at Samford

Tech and Samford have very little to gain this week, but Samford made their debut in the PRS. The Bulldogs will win, but will not gain. Tech will have no problems with Lane.

On the D2 level for Thursday:
Besides Lane and Newberry playing up a level, Concordia (AL) of the NAIA will take a road trip to visit traditional D2 power Carson-Newman, while Harding visits West Georgia.
