BYU WR/TE O'Neill Chambers has been suspended for this wee's Nevada game and for next week's tilt against Utah State for "disciplinary reasons". Who knows what that means, but Chambers has not done much anyway this season, catching 5 balls for 48 yards.
Florida State QB BJ Manuel has been practicing with the first team this week according to fannation.com. Don't worry Seminole fans...Christian Ponder is taking care his bruised arm that he suffered against Oklahoma, and will still start against Wake Forest this weekend.
Georgia is now an official underdog at Mississippi State according to some sportsbooks. When did you ever think that you would see the day. Look for the latest edition of coaches on the hotseat and the deadpool tonight...hint...Mark Richt will be on one of the lists.
Houston has settled on Terrence Broadway to be the starting QB against Tulane this week. As you know, starter Case Keenum and backup Cotton Turner were both lost for the season against UCLA last week.
Minnesota has suspended WR Troy Stoudermire indefinately for conduct detrimental to the team. No details were given of course, because God knows, everyone has to bave their "dignity" intact. Stoudermire was just shy of becoming the Big 10's all time leading kick returner.
Update on last night's post in regards to Rhode Island leaving the CAA. The target date for departure is 2012, not 2011 as first reported. However, don't count out 2011 if a deal can be struck, as Old Dominion is ready to move in to take their place. Georgia State will also be joining the CAA shortly. URI is in deep financial crisis, and serious consideration has been given to dropping the team altogether, such as has happened at fellow CAA schools Northeastern and Hofstra. The move to the NEC would be a major boon to the Rams financially and competitively, and they would increase their shot at a playoff birth by leaps and bounds with the newly expanded 1-AA playoff invites (16 to 20).
