South Carolina Gamecocks
I called for SC to lose in an upset, but that was never in danger of happening. It was 27-6 before Southern Miss even knew what had hit them. Marcus Lattimore has a very bright future as the lead back in the SC attack, and if Stepehn Garcia plays like he did all season, than the Gamecocks may push Florida in the SEC east.

Georgia Bulldogs
The Dogs manhandled Louisiana Lafayette between the hedges.Aaron Murray accounted for 4 scores on the day, and the D held ULL to 128 yards enroute to a 55-7 win. Nothing wrong with that.

Tennessee Volunteers
Well, they should have win this game as they did. They should never, ever schedule a game like this again. UT-Martin is not the kind of team that you ever want to see your team playing. It's a disgrace. However, The Vols crushed them like a cheap can. Next week will tell the truth about how good Tennessee is when Oregon comes to Knoxville. UTM was held to 142 total yards.

Mississippi State Bulldogs
The Dogs destroyed Memphis in every way on Saturday. Memphis never got off of the bus. Tyler Russell passed for 256 yards and 4 scores and the D held Memphis to 237 yards. Dan Mullen has MSU headed in the right direction.

Auburn Tigers
The Tigers got exactly the shot in the arm that they needed as Cameron Newton passed for 186 yards and rushed for 171 yards and totalled 5 scores on the day. The bad news is that the Tigers failed to stop the pass, as Arkansas State QB Ryan Aplin managed to pass for 278 yards.

Arkansas Razorbacks
The Hogs cruised. They should have when playing teams like Tennessee Tech. Ryan Mallett passed for 301 yards and 3 scores, but managed to throw a pick. You should not being throwing picks against Tennessee Tech. Heisman winners are not made of such things. The D held Tech to just 187 yards and a FG. Overall, a very nice day.

Alabama Crimson Tide
Eddie Lacy and Trent Richardson both rushed for 2 scores, while Greg McElroy passed for 218 yards and a score, and the defending champ Tide rolled San Jose State. This was just a nice and easy snack before the main course against Penn State next week. Heisman winner Mark Ingram did not play due to a knee injury, and may be out for the Penn State game as well. It shouldn't matter. The Spartans were held to 175 yards on the day and had just 7 1st downs.

Didn't Learn Much

Florida Gators
The O line was a mess, and John Brantley spent most of the day running for his life against a surprisingly lively Miami (Oh) D. Coach Meyer is going to have to figure out a way to fix that issue so that his young QB has a shot to be as good as he is. The D was just fine.

Kentucky Wildcats
UK has never been known for their rushing attack, but they ran hard over Louisville, gaining all 3 TDs on the ground. Derrick Locke rushed for 104 yards and 2 of those scores (the other went to Randall Cobb) and UK handled their rival. The only issue was that Mike Hartline never found the end zone through the air, and only found Cobb twice on the game through the air. You have to make better use of your best player.

LSU Tigers
LSU jumped out to a 30-10 lead at the half over undermanned UNC, and then never scored again and limped away with a 30-24 win in Atlanta. That's just not goig to be good enough when you play against SEC teams that all have killer instincts. LSU got complacent and sloppy in the second half.

Failing Grade

Ole MIss Rebels
How embarrassing was it to see Jack Crowe and his Jacksonville State Gamecocks running all over the field in a joyous celebration after the 1-AA squad knocked Ole Miss out in Oxford. This was not Appalachian State handling Michigan or anything, but man that was funny to watch. You have to give it up to Crowe and company, and by the way, not only did you lose to a 1-AA squad, but the QB that beat you was a true freshman playing in his first collegiate game. I'm still laughing. This win will be remebered forever on the JSU campus.

Vanderbilt Commodores
Vandy fought, but when you have NOrthwestern on the ropes in your own house, you have to throw the killing strike, and Vandy never did, and the Wildcats ran out of town with a win. Robby Caldwell gets some props for having the Commodores ready to play, but you should have won this one.
