Saturday Takes

The night games are still going on, and I am watching Texas and Texas Tech. Why is Taylor Potts still in the game?  That being said, Tech and the Horns are still tied at 14. Here are some other observations from what I've seen today...

The Good
Jacksonville Dolphins...Why not start with our new friends at JU? After a quiet first half, the Dolphins blew the game open in the 4th against Webber International in a 41-0. Great win after the big fish got away last week against Appalachian State

Kansas State RB Daniel Thomas...He will be on a candidates list for the Bilo Report's MVP award. He rushed for 182 yards in a 27-20 slug fest with Iowa State today.

Army Defense...The Cadets got back on track defensively, as they held North Texas to 201 yards and 11 first downs. They also get the shutout (24-0).

North Carolina Pride...The Heels gave Georgia Tech all they could handle today while playing 12 men down. UNC may not win much this season, but they won't quit.

Buckeye D...Ohio State held Ohio U. to 161 yards and 8 first downs.

UMass Guts...I told you all that the Minutemen would make a game of it. Michigan had to sweat out a 42-37 win today.

Illini Run Game...Mikel Leshoure and Nathan Scheelhaase both rushed for well over 100 yards and both averaged over 7 yards per carry in a 28-22 win over Northern Illinois.

Arkansas QB Ryan Mallett...Won the game with 0:14 left. Just one of his 3 TD passes along with 380 yards passing on the day.

Virginia Tech Stomach Acid Relief...Tech was looking like an 0-3 start would be on the horizon, but then they went on a 28 point run, including a 68 yard pick 6 of Dominique Davis. Tech wins at home 49-27 over pesky East Carolina.

The Return of Mark Ingram...He had over 100 yards in the first quarter...enough said.

Colorado Second Half...The Buffaloes traied Hawaii 10-0 at the half. They outscored Hawaii 31-3 in the second.

Husker Power...Nebraska is more than back, and Taylor Martinez is setting himself right on the MVP list for our end of the year awards.

Gator Special Teams: Urban Meyer is 8 for 8 on fake punts as Florida coach.

CMU's Cotton and Radcliff Show...Ryan Radcliff passed for 255 yards, while Paris Cotton rushed for 196 and a pair of scores in a 52-14 win over Eastern Michigan.

TCU...The machine marches on.

Oregon Ducks...The Ducks are scoring over a point per minute after a 69-0 thrashing of 1-AA Portland State.

OFFENSE!!!...Oklahoma State and Tulsa combined for over 1100 total yards.

LSU Defense...The Bayou Bengals continue to dominate ever since the second half collapse in the opener against UNC.

Nevada Wolfpack...After what the Pack did to Cal on Friday night, expect to see them in the PRS top 25 this week. They are starting to look like someone that Boise State should worry about in the WAC.

The UGLY
North Texas Offense...Wasn't this the one thing that Todd Dodge was supposed to be know for?

Michigan 4th Quarter D...Were you trying to lose for the second time to a 1-AA team in Ann Arbor?

Ole Miss...Losses to Jacksonville State and Vandy...Wow.

Colorado State...It's gotten to the point where the Rams have basically hit bottom.

BYU's last season in the MWC...So this is the way that you'll cash out?

Arizona State Special Teams...You lose beacuse of a missed extra point? An extra freaking point???

Jake Locker...4 of 20 today...and people still think that this is the best QB in the nation?

Troy 4th Quarter...How do you collapse against hapless UAB? The Trojans know how to do it.

I'm running at 38-4 picking 1-A straight up winners. We'll check in on 1-AA tomorrow evening.
