The Title Chase
Marshall just royally screwed themselves by falling to Middle Tennessee (who has all of four whopping wins) in triple OT. I bet Marshall fans long for the days of the tie now. I could rail against OT in college football all day, but that’s for another post. Marshall just handed the East right over to Western Kentucky in that loss. If both Marshall and WKU win out, they will meet on 11/27 to decide who wins the divisional title, but WKU controls the show right now.
The West is still a battle between two more teams, but everyone else is out of it. Louisiana Tech has a half game lead currently over surprising Southern Miss, who is officially bowl eligible. Southern miss has been awful for most of this decade, but Todd Monken has brought them out of the fog, and now they have a shot to play for a CUSA title if they can hold on. If both Tech and Southern Miss win out, they meet on 11/28 for the West title. Nobody could have plotted this better if they had tried.

Bowl Eligible: Western Kentucky, Marshall, Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss
Ineligible For Bowl Contention: FAU, Charlotte, UTSA, North Texas
