Conference USA Review Week 6

Final Scores
UCF 42, UAB 7
Louisville 56, Memphis 0
Army 41, Tulane 23
East Carolina 44, Southern Mississippi 43
SMU 21, Tulsa 18
Mississippi State 47, Houston 24
UTEP 44, Rice 24

Head of the Class
East Carolina, UCF, SMU, Houston, and UTEP
It wouldn't be a CUSA race if there weren't several teams involved at the half way point of the season. ECU has got to be a consistent team every week, and they have not always managed that, but they are the surprise team in the conference. UCF won their opener bi against UAB, and they are not going anywhere. SMU is just building off of the success of the 2009 season, and it's working. Houston and UTEP have both been plagued by injuries to big stars and seem least likely to steal a bid in the conference title game.

Barely Passing/Hanging On
Souther Mississippi
The Golden Eagles have been big game folders this season. A win over ECU would have solidified them as the CUSA front runners, but they fell apart, and now they are back in the middle of the pack.

Failing
Marshall, UAB, Memphis, Tulsa, Tulane, Rice
The only team that has a realistic shot at pulling out of this group would be Tulsa, but they are never the same team twice, which means, they seem to lose when they should not. Marshall, UAB, and Memphis are a combined 3-13. Tulane and Rice are just lost.

Week 7 Schedule
Southern Miss at Memphis
NC State at East Carolina
Houston at Rice
SMU at Navy
UTEP at UAB
Tulane at Tulsa
