Pass/Fail FBS Week 5

Here is a look at what's passing and failing as games go final today...

Ohio 30, Eastern Michigan 17
Pass: Vince Davidson had 3 TDs, which is basically what the Bobcats needed in the 3rd to pull away from EMU. Ohio won their 6th straight MAC road game.
Fail: EMU had Ohio right where they wanted at the half, but they seemingly stopped believing in themselves when they were outscored 20-0 in the 3rd.

Temple 42, Army 35
Pass: Temple found someone other than Bernard Pierce to carry the team, as Matt Brown rushed for 225 yards and 4 scores to carry the Owls to a wild win at West Point. Trent Steelman's 4 rushing TDs for Army were negated, but good for the young sophomore QBs confidence.
Fail: The defense for Army...They are supposed to be better than this. The Owls racked up 410 yards.

UConn 40, Vanderbilt 21
Pass: Cody Endres had an ok game at QB, but Jordan Todman returned from injury, and rushed for 190 yards for the Huskies.
Fail: Other than QB Larry Smith, Vandy was left without any production and the Commodores were outscored 19-0 in the second half.

Florida State 34, Virginia 14
Pass: Jermaine Thomas and Chris Thompson each averaged over 6.8 yards per carry, and Christian Ponder didn't turn the ball over. The defense has been dominant since the Oklahoma loss.
Fail: The Virginia run game...The Seminoles shut down the rushing attack, allowing only 26 yards rushing.

Miami 30, Clemson 21
Pass: Jacory Harris tossed 4 TDs in the 1st half, but completed only 13 of 33 passes, so this is kind of all in one pass/fail. Brandon Harris made a major rally killing tackle of Andre Ellington tosmother Clemson's chances at a comeback at the Cane 20.
Fail: Kyle Parker's 3 tossed 3 picks, and that negated Ellington's 3 TDs for the Tigers.

Baylor 55, Kansas 7
Pass: Robert Griffin put up 457 yards of total offense all by himself.
Fail: Kansas had 268 yards of offense that covered the entire team. Those 4 turnovers were pretty sweet too.

Northwestern 29, Minnesota 28
Pass: NU scored the final 9 points of the game from the 8:30 mark on in the 4th to come back against the Gophers. Dan Persa accounted for 401 yards.
Fail: The Wildcats were 4-0...why did they struggle so much against a team that couldn't stop the run against Northern Illinois?

Ohio State 24, Illinois 13
Pass: The Buckeyes defense held the Illini to 12 first downs on the day.
Fail: The Buckeyes offense stayed on the bus, and they looked like a team that took the Illini way to lightly. Terelle Pryor was even hurt for a short spell.

Mississippi State 49, Alcorns State 16
Pass: Vick Ballard had a 75 yarder amongst his 3 scores, and MSU ran up 554 yards of offense.
Fail: Alcorn State put 16 points in the second quarter, but gave up 28.

Auburn 52, Louisiana-Monroe 3
Pass: Cameron Newton ran once all game, and passed for 246 and 3 scores. The Tigers raced out to a 31-0 lead at the half.
Fail: ULM was held to 36 yards on 33 carries and turned the ball over 4 times. Are you loving that Todd Berry hire yet?

Ole Miss 42, Kentucky 35
Pass: Ole Miss rushed for 213 yards, while Jeremiah Masoli accounted for 4 scores.
Fail: Kentucky was a team that could have been the monley wrench in the SEC East, and now they are praying for a 2nd tier bowl when the season ends.

Miami (Ohio) 27, Kent State 21
Pass: Miami rebounded after their thrashing last week and 3 lackluster quarters this week by scoring 17 in the 4th and stealing a win from the sinking Flashes.
Fail: Spencer Keith was all over the place on his throws, and only completed 42.3% of his passes. Kent State is all done.

TCU 27, Colorado State 0
Pass: The defense got the shutout and held the Rams to 163 yards of offense with 2 turnovers.
Fail: Andy Dalton had a very ugly day for the Frogs, completing only 45.8% of his passes. Not very Dalton Like.

Idaho 33, Western Michigan 13
Pass: Nathan Enderle passed for 363 yards and 3 TD's, but still turned the ball over 2 more times.
Fail: Western had no offense against a team known for giving up big points and yards. Just one more reason why Bill Cubit should be feeling a boatload of heat.

Tulane 17, Rutgers 14
Pass: Tuklane fonally found someone that they could beat.
Fail: Rutgers was a 20 point favorite, but I told you that neither team could even score 20.

Air Force 14, Navy 6
Pass: Jared Tew had 98 yards rushing, and Tim Jefferson ran for 2 scores.
Fail: Ricky Dobbs was a non factor, and Navy has become a major disappointment.

More updates later as games go final!!!
