FCS PRS Release Edition 6

Here is the latest PRS release for the 2010 season. Not as much movement as some would expect, but it's an interesting group once again. Enjoy the PRS...

1. Jacksonvile State (6-0, 1435)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #1, defeated UT-Martin 30-20
Points Gained: 240
This Week: Tennessee State
This week's game will be against a streaky and sneeky opponent in the Tigers of TSU. In my honest opinion, now would be a good time to ditch the 2 QB system so that Marques Ivory can get into a real groove.
I Pick: JSU...another close one coming up

2. Delaware (6-0, 1200)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #2, defeated Maine 26-7
Points Gained: 195
This Week: Rhode Island
The Rams have had some success this season, but they don't have the firepower to take out the Hens.
I Pick: UD...URI is getting better, but they are not at this caliber yet.

3. Appalachian State (5-0, 1127)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #4, defeated Elon 34-31
Points Gained: 187
This Week: Citadel
Elon gave the Mountaineers a run for their money, but Citadel should not be able to follow suit. ASU should maintain the course for another week.
I Pick: ASU...Ride the talent of DeAndre Pressley.

4. Southeast Missouri State Redhawks (5-1, 1059)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #5, defeated Tennessee State 19-17
Points Gained: 171
This Week: at Austin Peay
APSU is collapsing at this point and has lost 2 in a row. Southeast should be able to keep up the pressure and win easily.
I Pick: SEMS...Keep on running Henry Harris and his 868 yards.

5. William & Mary (5-1, 1044)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #8, defeated Rhode Island 26-7
Points Gained: 245
This Week: Idle
The Tribe gets an important off week with Delaware coming up the week after. Unfortunately, they will slide from the lack of points. This would be a great time to find a big time playmaker on offense.

6. Bethune-Cookman Wildcats (5-0, 1008)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #9, defeated Delaware State 47-24
Points Gained: 230
This Week: at #19 South Carolina State
This may be the game of the week for FCS football fans. Both teams are making major strides, and the winner will have a path obstructed only by Hampton. I hope that this is televised somewhere.
I Pick: Bethune-Cookman...high octane offense will get the nod.

7T. Robert Morris (5-1, 1001)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #7, defeated Monmouth 17-16
Points Gained: 168
This Week: Albany
The Colonials were lucky to escape lowly Monmouth last week after Monmouth missed the game tying PAT. Jeff SInclair scored both TD's last week, but otherwise seemingly went through the motions. That will have to change with Albany coming off of a 48-0 win.
I Pick: Robert Morris...Colonials get their heads out of their asses this week.

7T. Montana State  (5-1, 1001)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #10T, defeated Portland State 44-31
Points Gained: 257
This Week: at Northern Arizona
MSU seeks revenge for a 13 point loss at home last season. Hopefully, theywon't have to dig out of enormous hole once again to get a win.
I Pick: MSU...It won't be easy, but the Lumberjacks have been a middling team all season, and the Bobcats are in prime position to win the Big Sky. A loss would be humbling to say the least.

9. Stephen F. Austin (4-1, 981)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: 10T, defeated McNeese State 32-27
Points Gained: 237
This Week: Central Arkansas
The Lumberjacks got a 15 yard pass from Jeremy Moses to Cordell Roberson with 0:55 remaining to survive last week. UCA wasn't so lucky as they flopped against a pitiful Northwestern State team. Jeremy Moses needs a running back to step up this week.
I Pick: SFA in a close game...Moses may have to part the sea once again.

10. Hampton (4-1, 907)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #14, defeated North Carolina Central 27-13
Points Gained: 241
This Week: Norfolk State
The Pirates are trying to avenge a 46-6 loss from a season ago. The Pirates are actually in 1st place in the MEAC ahead of SC State and Bethune-Cookman. They play each of these teams in 2 of the next 3 weeks.
I Pick: Hampton...vengeance will be served.

11. Grambling State (4-1, 901)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #12, defeated Alabama State 22-7
Points Gained: 187
This Week: Alcorn State
Frank Warren and friends have been rolling this season, and they have Alcorn State right where they want them...down after a strange loss to Texas Southern.
I Pick: Grambling...They'll keep on rambling.

12. UMass (4-1, 857)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #6, Idle
Points Gained: 0
This Week: Richmond
The Spiders are falling apart, and UMass is the only team in league play with an unbeaten mark other than #2 Delaware. Richmond also announced that QB Aaron Corps is done for the season.
I Pick: UMass...The Minutemen should have two wins under their belt when they get James Madison in 3 weeks.

13. Wofford (4-1, 827)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #19, defeated then #13 Georgia Southern 33-31
Points Gained: 285
This Week: Western Carolina
Eric Breitenstein's two 4th quarter scores gave the Terriers the win last week. This week should not take so much emotional drama to win, as WCU is in the tank.
I Pick: Wofford...No issues coming this week, except maybe a hangover?

14. James Madison (4-1, 810)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #16, defeated Towson 17-13
Points Gained: 221
This Week: New Hampshire
Drew Dudzik scored 2 TDs last week, but his overall performance at QB was highly overwhelming, as was the entire team effort in a 4 point win over lowly Towson. The Dukes have got to be better then this. Call them the Wisconsin of the Colonial.
I Pick: JMU...UNH is way down, and thank God for it, otherwise the Dukes could be in danger of losing a second game in Colonial play.

15. Dayton (5-1, 795)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #18, defeated San Diego 21-20
Points Gained: 222
This Week: at Butler
The Flyers needed a Steve Valentino TD pass in the 4th quarter to hold off USD on the road. It never should have gotten that close. That was a gut check win.
I Pick: Dayton...Butler should not be able to hang with the Flyers, and if they do, maybe Dayton is not as good as we think.

16. Jacksonville (5-1, 774)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #17, defeated Drake 39-34
Points Gained: 194
This Week: at Valporaiso
The Dolphins have had a problem putting people away this season, even with FCS best QB Josh MacGregor pulling the trigger, but this week should solve all of that when the Dolphins take on the doormat of all doormats.
I Pick: JU...No challenge this week, and it's on the road.

17. Western Illinois (4-2, 765)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #3, lost to South Dakota State 33-29
Points Lost: -175
This Week: Youngstown State
WIU had to feel like they had been slapped in the face with a cold, dead fish on Saturday when they fell to previously winless SDSU. That never should have happened, and guess what...the schedule gets pretty difficult from this point on.
I Pick: WIU...Home pride has to count for something.

18. North Dakota State (4-2, 725)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #27, defeated Youngstown State 34-29
Points Gained: 289
This Week: at Illinois State
The Bison picked up a must win last week, as a loss would have dropped them to 0-3 in MVC play. NDSU should get another win this week on the road against the no defense playing Redbirds.
I Pick: NDSU...ISU was blown out by Indiana State last week...that's right...Indiana State.

19. South Carolina State (4-1, 722)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #22, defeated Norfolk State 34-13
Points Gained: 205
This Week: #6 Bethune-Cookman
What a war this will be. The Bulldogs will have to have their defensive game of the year to keep up with the high flying Wildcats and QB Matt Johnson.
I Pick: Bethune-Cookman...too much offense, but it should be close.

20. Liberty (4-2, 688)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #24, defeated Charleston Southern 44-20
Points Gained: 218
This Week: VMI
This week should be a breeze for Mike Brown and the Flames. VMI is falling apart like 3 day old bread right now.
I Pick: Liberty...VMI lost this game 54-14 last season. Expect more of the same.

21. Villanova (3-2, 600)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #15, Idle
Points Gained: 0
This Week: at Maine
The Wildcats must have practiced angry coming off of their loss to William & Mary two weekends ago. Maine is dangerous in Orono, so they should be aware of the trap capabilities.
I Pick: Villanova...the comeback begins now.

22. Cal Poly (4-2, 575)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #40, defeated then #35 Old Dominion 50-37
Points Gained: 313
This Week: at Southern Utah
Welcome to the Top 25. our next assignment is to hold down SUU, who happens to be in 1st place in the conference.
I Pick: Cal Poly...The Mustangs are on track now, and when they get going, it gets interesting. Goal number one...keep the ball away from SUU WR Tyson Poots.

23. Georgia Southern (3-2, 567)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #13, lost to Wofford 33-31
Points Lost: -171
This Week: at Chattanooga
This will be a tough battle against a Mocs team that has been highly competitive in 2010. The Mocs are actually a 1/2 game above the Eaqgles in the SoCon standings.
I Pick: UPSET ALERT!!! The Mocs are climbing while GSU is falling. Bad combo.

24. Colgate (3-2, 559)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #33, defeated Princeton 44-10
Points Gained: 278
This Week: at Cornell
Cornell is coming off of a tough loss to Harvard. The Red Raiders should ride Nate Eachus to a huge road win.
I Pick: Colgate...the Raiders are moving in the right direction, and momentum is on their side.

25. Furman (3-2, 517)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #37, defeated Howard 56-14
Points Gained: 248
This Week: at Samford
The Paladins will get a big road test against the Bulldogs, who are coming off of a big win themselves. Should they fall, Furman would be out of the running for playoff contention. Must win.
I Pick: Furman...huge battles are won by good teams, and Furman is a good team. They really need this one.

Knocking On The Door
26. Penn 3-1, 516
27. Sam Houston State 3-2, 512
28. Eastern Washington 4-2, 506
29. Jackson State 4-1, 501
30. Yale 3-1, 473
31. Harvard 3-1, 466
