FCS Week 6 Lineup

BIG SKY CONFERENCE
Northern Arizona at Eastern Washington 1:05 PM
Idaho State at Montana 1:05 PM
Portland State at Montana State 1:30 PM
Northern Colorado at Sacramento 2:05 PM

What's At Stake
NAU is 1-0 in conference play, but EWU will basically fall out of league contention with a loss...Montana needs a win to stay alove as well, and ISU is already 0-3 in league play, and can only be a spoiler now...A share of first place is on the line when Portland State and Montana State meet, with MSU already up in the win column.

BIG SOUTH CONFERENCE
Virginia Military Institute at Stony Brook 3:30 PM
Charleston Southern at Liberty 3:30 PM

What's At Stake
VMI is the only team with a win in conference play, and they maintain 1st place against Stony Brook, who has lost 3 of 4...Liberty took a two week spill, but is getting back on track, and Charleston Southern has won 2 of their wins have been against lower classification teams.

COLONIAL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION
Richmond at New Hampshire 12:00 PM
Maine at Delaware 1:00 PM
Rhode Island at William & Mary 7:00 PM
James Madison at Townson 7:00 PM

What's At Stake
Richmond has stumbled early, and with a loss, falls out of contention, which UNH has basically done...Delaware has bee on fire to start the season, even with Pat Devlin being banged up, and Maine has already punched a hole in UNH...URI has been a very nice surprise, and a win would keep them a half game back in the standings, but W&M has been a tough out in their own right, and the Tribe is playing for survival...Towson is the worst team in the league right now, and JMU is coming off of their first loss of the season, which leads me to believe that the Dukes are gonna take something out on the Tigers.

GREAT WEST CONFERENCE
Southern Utah at North Dakota 4:00 PM
South Dakota at California-Davis 6:00 PM
California Poly at Old Dominion 8:00 PM

What's At Stake
SUU has been a tough luck loser this season, and UND has had some good moments and some bad. Look for the T-Birds to break out and let their high flying offense, led by Taylor Poots, to soar...USD has a win over Minnesota this season, and is climbing in the PRS. UCD is coming off of a win over San Jose State, and is looking to build momentum...Cal Poly is trying to get on track after a slow start, but this would be a fantastic chance for surging ODU to pick up a signature win at home.

IVY LEAGUE
Cornell at Harvard 12:00 PM
Lafayette at Columbia 12:30 PM
Brown at Holy Cross 1:00 PM
Pennsylvania at Bucknell 1:00 PM
Yale at Dartmouth 1:30 PM

What's At Stake
Both Harvard and Cornell lost their Ivy openers, making this a must win for both teams...Columbia is off to a strong start, and Lafayette has struggled badly. Columbia would be formidable at 3-1...Brown has a big win over Harvard to their credit, and Holy Cross lost to Harvard earlier this season. The Bears need a rebound win after falling to Rhode Island last week...Penn is off to a very nice start, and Bucknell is winless in 4 tries. Penn should roll...Yale and Dartmouth both fell last week after cracking the top 35. A win this week could push one of them back in.

MID-EASTERN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
Howard at Furman 12:00 PM
Morgan State at North Carolina A&T 1:30 PM
Norfolk State at South Carolina State 2:00 PM
Delaware State at Bethune-Cookman 4:00 PM
Hampton at North Carolina Central 4:00 PM

What's At Stake
Howard stumbled past Lincoln for their first win last week, and will struggle to stay in the game against Furman...The Bears could survive this week by taking out the winless Aggies...A loss by NSU could drop them out of MEAC contention, and SC State is not likely to give them a shot at staying in it...Bethune-Cookman is having one of their hottest starts ever, and DSC is having one of their worst...Hampton should control the tempo against new MEAC member NCC. NCC is not up to the level of competition this week.

MISSOURI VALLEY CONFERENCE
Northern Iowa at Southern Illinois 2:00 PM
Illinois State at Indiana State 2:05 PM
Missouri State at Murray State 3:00 PM
North Dakota State at Youngstown State 3:00 PM
Western Illinois at South Dakota State 6:00 PM

What's At Stake
UNI is tied for first this week, but SIU is playing for their lives in MVC play...Illinois State is on the verge of getting nuked in MVC play, but Indiana State should provide an easy win...Missouri State has had some special moments to start the season, and Murray State can score. Both teams could run up the scoreboard, but the Bears should come out on top...NDSU and YSU are playing in an elimination game this weekend...The best against the worst, and WIU should roll.

NORTHEAST CONFERENCE
St. Francis (PA) at Albany 1:00 PM
Sacred Heart at Bryant 1:00 PM
Wagner at Georgetown 1:00 PM
Duquesne at Central Connecticut State 12:00 PM
Monmouth at Robert Morris 12:00 PM

What's At Stake
Albany needs to win to get back into the race, and by doing so would put St. Francis in the elimination zone...Sacred Heart has been dying out since week 2, and Bryant could use a win against a future NEC conference opponent...Wagner has been a bit strange this season, with losses to Assumption and Robert Morris, but wins against teams in the middle. Georgetown started hot, but has cooled recently. The Hoyas should win and get back on track...Duquesne has also cooled lately, while CCSU has been heating up with their rushing attack. A win by CCSU keeps them close to the lead, while Duquesne becomes an also ran with a loss...Monmouth survived last week with a huge win over Duquesne, but Robert Morris is red hot, and does not look like a solid target for an upset.

OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE
Jacksonville State at Tennessee-Martin 1:00 PM
Missouri State at Murray State 3:00 PM
Tennessee Tech at Austin Peay State 4:00 PM
Tennessee State at Southeast Missouri State 6:00 PM
Eastern Illinois at Eastern Kentucky 6:00 PM

What's At Stake
As bad as UTM's start has been, they can still finish this weekend tied for first in the OVC with a huge upset over #1 JSU, who has not won a game in dominant fashion all season...Murray State has had some problems, and they are out of the race at this point, and this game cannot help them in league play...Tech is struggling, and APSU has not beaten anyone of substance. With Tech already sinking to the bottom of the league, APSU has a shot with the win to get to the top...SEMS has only lost to Ball State in 2010. They are ranked in the top 10, and they have been a steady force. TSU started out strong, but they fell apart for awhile. They have been climbing back recently, so anything is possible this week...EIU and EKU are a combined 1-9 to start the season.

PATRIOT LEAGUE
Fordham at Lehigh 12:30 PM
Lafayette at Columbia 12:30 PM
Brown at Holy Cross 1:00 PM
Colgate at Princeton 1:00 PM
Pennsylvania at Bucknell 1:00 PM
Wagner at Georgetown 1:00 PM

What's At Stake
Lehigh has struggled, and a Fordham loss would put them out of the race, and they may already be there...Lafayette has been shockingly bad this season, and they are not likely to knock off Columbia...Holy Cross also may be in the hole against Brown...Colgate is pushing their way into the PRS top 25, and a win over Princeton may very well get them there...Bucknell is a mess, and beating Penn is probably not in the cards...The Hoyas need to start winning again, and Wagner at home may be some good medicine for their ailments.

PIONEER FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Butler at Davidson 12:00 PM
Drake at Jacksonville 12:00 PM
Marist at Valparaiso 2:00 PM
Dayton at San Diego 5:00 PM

What's At Stake
Butler has not picked up a win against an FCS opponent in 2010, and Davidson is in an elimination situation...Drake and Jacksonville are fighting to stay in a 1st place tie, and the talent level seems to tilt in JU's direction, and defense will be the key...Marist and Valpo battle for last place...USD has only one win this season, and Dayton has only one loss and has cracked the top 25 again. Looks like USD is going down again.

SOUTHERN CONFERENCE
Howard at Furman 12:00 PM
Tennessee-Chattanooga at The Citadel 2:00 PM
Elon at Appalachian State 3:00 PM
Samford at Western Carolina 3:00 PM
Wofford at Georgia Southern 6:00 PM

What's At Stake
Furman should blast Howard out of the building...Chattanooga has been playing the best football that they have played in years, and Citadel has hit a wall...Elon is overrated, and Appalachian State should out them away for good...Samford was pushed out of the race last week, and WCU is out if they fall this week...Wofford and the Eagles are fighting to stay on pace at the top of the conference, and the pace should be slow, with most of the offense coming on the ground.

SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE
Texas State at Southeastern Louisiana 2:00 PM
Sam Houston State at Nicholls 4:00 PM
Northwestern State at Central Arkansas 6:00 PM
Stephen F. Austin at McNeese State 7:00 PM

What's At Stake
Texa State and SELU are playing their conference openers this week. SELU has lost some very tight games, so a TSU win is not a guarantee...Sam Houston State should blast Nicholls State...UCA should do the same thing to NW State, who has lost 14 of their last 15...McNeese State won their opener in conference play, but SFA has been a top 10 team since early in the season. The Lumberjacks have the edge on the road.

SOUTHWESTERN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
Thursday, October 7, 2010
Prairie View A&M at Arkansas-Pine Bluff 6:30 PM
Saturday, October 9, 2010
Texas Southern at Alcorn State 2:00 PM
Alabama A&M at Jackson State 4:00 PM
Alabama State at Grambling 4:00 PM
Mississippi Valley State at Southern 6:30 PM

What's At Stake
Prairie View and UAPB are both struggling this season, and the loser will find themselves buried...Jackson State is pushing their way back into the top 35, and the Bulldogs are already fading from view. The Tigers need this win...Alabama State has floundered after reaching #3 in the PRS. Grambling and Frank Warren are picking up steam, and has a big chance to become the undisputed leader in the SWAC race...MVSU is a joke, and Southern isn't much better.

FCS INDENPENDENTS
Savannah State at Georgia State 1:00 PM
Langston at Lamar 7:00 PM
California Poly at Old Dominion 6:00 PM

What's at Stake
Georgia State is in prime position to win their 4th game in 6 attempts in their inaugural season, and Savannah State looks to continue sinking...Lamar has an interesting match against D2 Langston, as this is the kind of game that they need to win now to prove that they are a legitimate squad in year one...ODU is looking for a big home win as they continue to save their season.
