FCS (1-AA) PRS (Bilo Football Poll) Release Number 7

Here is the latest FCS (1-AA) Power Ratings System (AKA Bilo Football Poll) release. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Jacksonville Dolphins for breaking the all time record for point gain in a single week with 365 after their crushing 86-7 win at Valporaiso on Saturday.
Enjoy the 7th edition of the PRS.

1. Jacksonville State (7-0, 1633)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #1, Defeated Tennessee State 24-0
Points Gained: 198
This Week: Austin Peay
The Gamecocks continued their roll last weekend through the 2010 season, and this week should be just as simple, as the Governors do not have the guns to go man to man. Look for JSU to cruise and maintain this rank next weekend.
I Pick: JSU

2. Delaware (7-0, 1381)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #2, Defeated Rhode Island 24-17
Points Gained: 181
This Week: at #13 William & Mary
This will be one of the more difficult challenges of the season for the Blue Hens. The fact that this game is on the road adds more intrigue for the Hens, but a win would mean that UD controls their own destiny the rest of the way in the Colonial.
I Pick: Delaware...The Hens have shown great fortitude on the road this season, and although the Tribe will give them everything that they have, UD should squeak this out.

3. Appalachian State (6-0, 1345)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #3, Defeated Citadel 39-10
Points Gained: 218
This Week: at Western Carolina
ASU fans should hope for a UD loss this weekend, as they know that they should cruise past the Catamounts, even on the road. The Mountaineers are playing at their peak right now, and DeAndre Presley is one of the best players in the nation.
I Pick: ASU...easy win this week.

4. Southeast Missouri State (6-1, 1317)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #4, Defeated Austin Peay 41-24
Points Gained: 258
This Week: Eastern Kentucky
EKU is struggling badly this season, and this may be one of the best Southeast teams ever. The Redhawks lost this game last season, but there should be no such worries this weekend at home.
I Pick: Southeast Missouri

5. Bethune-Cookman (6-0, 1286)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #6, Defeated then #19 South Carolina State 14-0
Points Gained: 278
This Week: North Carolina Central
This game is a tuneup for a another major showdown against Hampton in a week from next Saturday. The Wildcats cannot take their eyes off of the prize, because if they beat the Eagles this week and the Pirates next week, it should be smooth sailing to the MEAC title.
I Pick: Bethune-Cookman

6. Robert Morris (6-1, 1227)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #7, Defeated Albany 38-0
Points Gained: 226
This Week: Idle
The Colonials rest up to get ready for the stretch run to an NEC title and NCAA playoff birth. This will be a good opportunity for Jeff Sinclair to get his mojo back at QB as well. There are only 3 games left on the schedule, and Central Connecticut comes on November 6th.

7. Stephen F. Austin (5-1, 1184)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #9, Defeated Central Arkansas 30-7
Points Gained: 203
This Week: #19 Sam Houston State
These next two weeks are going to tell whther or not the Lumberjacks will win the Southland. The next game after this will be against spoiler Texas State. This week will be a major battle.
I Pick: The Lumberjacks at home...you have to win these games on your field.

8. Jacksonville (6-1, 1139)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #16, Defeated Valporaiso 86-7
Points Gained: 365 (New Record)
This Week: Marist
The Dolphins return triumphantly home after picking up a major blowout win over the Crusaders last season. The Red Foxes await them, as they are coming off of a home loss to San Diego. Marist defeated the Dolphins last season, so you know that the coaching staff will remind the guys of that this week.
I Pick: JU...The Dolphins are as focused as any team in the country right now. They need to keep on doing what they are doing, and a PFL title will be within reach.

9. Grambling State (5-1, 1099)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #11, Defeated Alcorn State 38-28
Points Gained: 198
This Week: at Mississippi Valley State
Spend no time worrying about this game. The Tigers will roll, guaranteed.
I Pick: Grambling

10. Hampton (5-1, 1065)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #10, Defeated Norfolk State 7-6
Points Gained: 158
This Week: at South Carolina State
Neither the Pirates or the Bulldogs played at their very best last weekend, and this week will be an elimination game for SC State. Hampton then has to take on Bethune-Cookman the week after. Will they get caught looking ahead?
I Pick: Hampton...never mind the score this week, as Hampton still has the better offense. It will be low scoring though.

11. Wofford (5-1, 1053)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #13, Defeated Western Carolina 45-14
Points Gained: 226
This Week: at Elon
This week should start a 3 game winning run for the Terriers coming into their 2 week hellish stint against Appalachian State and Chattanooga. You always have to worry about road trips, but the Terriers should have this one if they play ntheir game. Heavy defense and solid option play on offense.
I Pick: Wofford

12. Dayton (6-1, 1048)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #15, Defeated Butler 33-13
Points gained: 253
This Week: Campbell
This week should bring an easy win for the Flyers, as they try to keep pace in the PFL with Jacksonville. The Camels will not provide much of a challenge.
I Pick: Dayton

13. William & Mary (5-1, 1044)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #5, Idle
Points Gained: 0
This Week: #2 Delaware
The Tribe has a huge chance to make a major splash and get into the lead in the Colonail with a win on Saturday. Expect a war, and for everything to be left out on the field. Games like this are why you play football. Game of the week.
I Pick: Delaware...unfortunately, the Hens have been a wall on the road this season against some very good teams.

14. Liberty (5-2, 963)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #20, Defeated VMI 41-7
Points Gained: 275
This Week: at Presbyterian
No worries this week, as the Flames should cruise easily.
I Pick: Liberty

15. Western Illinois (5-2, 957)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #17, Defeated Youngstown State 40-38
Points Gained: 192
This Week: at Missouri State
You should always kick your opponent when they are down. Kick hard, as the Bears are way down. WIU is in first place in the MVC for now, and with some focus, they could stay there.
I Pick: WIU

16. Villanova (4-2, 878)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #21, Defeated Maine 48-18
Points Gained: 278
This Week: James Madison
It's a trap! The Dukes will be desperate coming into this week's game, but the Wildcats will be at home. Villanova is not dead in conference play yet, but a loss this week would be the final bullet.
I Pick: Villanova...too much to lose and playing at home.

17. Colgate (4-2, 844)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #24, Defeated Cornell 44-3
Points Gained: 285
This Week: Holy Cross
The Red Raiders are playing at their best right now, and they have star power in Nate Eachus. Look for the Riaders to rise again next week.
I Pick: Colgate

18. Montana State (5-2, 781)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #7T, Lost to Northern Arizona 34-7
Points Lost: -220
This Week: Northern Colorado
The Bobcats now find themselves in a precarious situation. One more loss and you can forget about the Big Sky crown and a playoff birth. Every game is critical fro this point forward.
I Pick: MSU... the Bears are not a top tier team in the BSC, and the Bobcats are in crisis mode after the loss on the road. Look for a rebound next week.

19. Sam Houston State (4-2, 769)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: 27, Defeated Southeast Louisiana 57-7
Points Gained: 257
This Week: at #7 Stephen F. Austin
Game of the Week #2. The Bearkats were torched by SFA last season at home, and now they have to go on the road to steal a win that would let them control their fate. The winner of this game has a pretty clear shot to the Southland title.
I Pick: SFA...the Lumberjacks are very talented and deep, and have been a force since losing the opener. The BEarkats will have to wait another season.

20. Furman (4-2, 761)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #25, Defeated Samford 27-10
Points Gained: 244
This Week: #26 Chattanooga
Game of the Week #3. Furman needs this win desperatley, and would be dooing league leader App. State a huge favor by getting rid of the pesky Mocs. The Paladins would also get themselves closer to an at large burth for the NCAA playoffs.
I Pick: Furman at home...This will be a fun game.

21. Penn (4-1, 757)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #26, Defeated Columbia 27-13
Points Gained: 241
This Week: at Yale
Yale has been strong at home, but crap on the road. The Quakers are tied with the Bulldogs for first in the Ivy as we speak. Penn should be the better team, but it's a dog fight in this conference right now.
I Pick: Penn...stronger and more consistent.

22. Eastern Washington (5-2, 748)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #28, Defeated Northern Colorado 35-28
Points Gained: 242
This Week: Sacramento State
The Eagles have taken over a share of first place in the BSC, but this week could be a major naill biter, as the Hornets can score with anyone. Better bring out the big guns, beacuse this is going to be a street fight.
I Pick: EWU

23. Jackson State (5-1, 704)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #29, Defeated Southern 49-45
Points Gained: 203
This Week: at Texas Southern
TSU has become a major irritation for their SWAC opponents all of a sudden. JSU is coming off of a shootout and TSU was off last week and is rested. Total focus will be needed.
I Pick: Jackson State...having Casey Therriault as your QB gives you the edge, and Jackson has him.

24. Northern Arizona (4-2, 652)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #36, Defeated #18 Montana State 34-7
Points Gained: 261
This Week: at #25 Montana
The Lumberjacks are still playing the spoiler in the Big Sky, but can be a dream killer with a big road win this weekend. Montana is improving steadily after a rough start.
I Pick: Montana...the Grizzlies know how to win this time of year, and now that they have a share of first, I don't see them giving it back this easily.

25. Montana (5-2, 650)
Last Week's Ranking/Result: #32, Defeated Portland State 23-21
Points Gained: 225
This Week: #24 Northern Arizona
Game of the Week #4. Montana has fought back to take a share of the Big Sky lead, while the Lumberjacks with a conference loss are playing the spoiler roll. Look for the Grizzlies to play as hard as they can, as they know a loss will knock them out.
I Pick: Montana

Knocking On The Door

26. Chattanooga (4-2, 635)
27. Yale (4-1, 631)
28. UMass (4-2, 616)
29. James Madison (4-2, 560)
30. North Dakota State (4-3, 539)
31. New Hampshire (4-3, 523)
32. South Carolina State (4-2, 508)
33. Lehigh (4-2, 442)
34. Georgia Southern (3-3, 436)
35. Georgia State (5-2, 412)
